Devils do not HAVE to trade Hall. Massive overpayment by a potential lottery team to get a one year rental.

I am honestly confused by the premise of your AGM. The Devils don't have to do anything. Did Columbus have to trade Panarim or Bobrovsky? No way. All NJ needs to do is prove they can win, and this isn't some sort of mediocre team - they have plenty of skill. That being said, Hall needs to stay healthy. Even if Hall is not prepared to sign an extension mid-season, NJ should 100% take the gamble if they are still in the thick of season by the deadline. If nothing else, that proves to the league, and to other potential UFA targets, that they should be taken seriously as a playoff contender, as opposed to the continuous stream of good luck top lottery picks they've been getting.

It would be better to trade Hall for a legit LHD like Werenski, Ekholm, Hughes. You could probably get Quinten Hughes+ for Hall.

I know Hall is great but u have to factor in age and injuries into the equation. But a Van deal could make alot of sense for both sides.

Hall without an extension gets the Devils a high pick and a good prospect. Nothing that would even remotely equate to Ekholm, nevermind Werenski, or an elite prospect like Quinton Hughes.

Yeah anaheim is a weird choice, I don;t want to trade hall but in the event you plan to for your AGM a team like colorado would make more sense, assets to give, cap to sign, ready to win, etc

It's always amazes me that so many folks get all panicky and think UFAs HAVE to be traded. On average there are about three UFAs per team.....they all don't get traded, and where would they go if it so urgent that no team is supposed to have upcoming UFA on their roster.

Cup contenders, even playoff contenders do not trade their upcoming UFAs...they try to keep their team better for playoff run for their fans and their players sake. As we see every February some UFAs by non playoff team to teams who are trying to improve themselves in the players. I do expect Hall to be trade at TDL (if he isn't injured) because IMO the Devils won't be in the playoff hunt. The return a prospect and a pick which will be in the mid 20s.

So the MVP of the NHL 2 years ago isn't worth a teams top defenseman? I totally think he is and I believe teams would make that trade and then try and sign him afterwards
