Why do people automatically assume GM's spread the word around about a potential trade? People act like Bergevin should have known Colorado was willing to trade Barrie AND Kerfoot for pieces. The fact that Kerfoot was involved in this trade blew my mind. Not sure what Colorado was thinking to be honest so I don't get why people think Bergevin dropped the ball and just didn't make a better trade. Thats a ridiculous thought process to me

Habs could not have offered the Avs that with the 8.45m Aho offer sheet still in play. One reason the Avs might have rejected the offer is that needed a true centre...Kadri not Shaw in the trade because of the trading of Kerfoot.

I understand but let assume that any GM speak to each other on that time of year... and everyone knows that MTL need a top PP D...
My quote here was why did Colorado give that much for Kadri??? Kerfoot has as many pts them him....actually the best player in that trade is Barrie... + mthey retain 50% of its salary to help Toronto!

Got points... but Kerfoot played at C last season hitting 45 pts @ 24yo... + Barrie 59pts... for Kadri!
I beleive my value on Kadri is off as he should only be a 3C in any good/decent team IMO

I disagree. I think Kerfoot is the is the gem in the deal and long term will be the best player. Just my opinion though.

I look at the trade a little differently. Kadri for Kerfoot seems equal in controllable years, somewhat salary and on ice performance. Then it's Barrie for Rosen and a third. The Avs have cap space and had a nice run last year. I don't know why they traded Barrie so cheaply. You think Barrie is needed by the Avs if only for one season. Gee even at TDL, I thought Barrie would get more, if Avs wanted to trade him.
And you're right about Kadri a 3C. He's really not that good offensively consistently to be a classified as a 2C. His two seasons as a 30 goal scorer. 13 goals a season as LW on the PP. Good but not from the centre position.

Anyone here on AGM would post a trade like this would have been bombarded by messegaes from the Avs fan saying that Canadian teams are overevaluating their player! sarcasm

bc Kadri is a legit top tier 2C in this league on a sweet heart deal for 3 more years. Some spare parts isnt going to get the job done

Kerfoot did not play C last year, he played Wing for a big majority of it. He is a shooter and is a pass first guy who is frustrating to watch forcing the pass every time. He is tanguay 2.0. Kerfoot was on pace for a 30 point season until he was put on the top line playing Wing with Mackinnon and Rantanen. He got hot and 8 points in the last 10 games. Before that 1 point in 12 games.

Hes a nice young player but hes a 3rd line Winger, if you are playing him beyond that, your team has depth issues

As a Leafs fan I am happy about this trade, but if by this time next year the leafs lose in the first round AGAIN and lose Barrie as a UFA then COL wins this trade.

Kadri is a great player who will probably put up 30 goals (maybe more) playing 2C in COL. AND he is on a great deal for 3 more years

Kadri was ranked as the 34th best Center in the league last year by Corsica. He will be one of the better 2Cs in the league. The only teams where he is a 3C are teams with 2 1Cs like TOR and PIT

this is exactly the reason, Kadri is a driver of his own line, he is a 2C having to play a reduced role last year behind Matthews and Tavares. With his cost controlled 3 years at 4.5m, he fills a large void in the avs line up, a legit 2C who can finish and be able to play a shut down role if needed to. He gives the Avs top 6 so much flexibility now.

I agree, Kadri is a legit player. I dont understand how other fan bases like Montreal (who are just blind trolling) cant see this. Look at what Trouba brought back who is in the same situation, 1 year away from UFA. a 1st and Pionk? Barrie with Kerfoot who is going to Arb, landed Kadri with 3 years left and a 3rd rounder.

It might be a tad too much to give up from the Avs but they could afford to trading from a position of luxery

I am happy with it. Avs couldnt afford to keep Barrie and didnt want to lose him for nothing. Kerfoot didnt have a spot on this team with Jost, Compher, Burakovsky on the roster now and Kaut coming in hot for a middle 6 spot, plus he was in the dog house a lot last year for inconsistent play. Its a tad over paying but Kadri at 3 years fills a big big hole for the team while either Jost and Newhook fight for how is the long term 2C if at all.

Avs have Makar, Girard, Byram, Timmins as 20 year old and younger Dmen who are their future. Barrie is a special player but they needed a guy like Kadri more than they needed Barrie. Burakovsky is going to take Kerfoots spot and will mesh better in that role bc of his size and his high volume shooting tendencies. Kerfoot never shot and Avs needed guys who can put the puck in teh net, thats something Kadri does well

Its a win for both teams
