Why would WPG want to do that though? Gudbranson's almost negative value...

if you're a jets fan im surprised you'd do this, gudbranson has a terrible contract and has negative value

also i think laine goes for more of a bridge contract due to last season being the way it was for him, he could go out and score 50 next season and then his potential contract would go up dramatically

They wouldn't but I want Wheeler gone.. Lol
In two years those guys (Bjugstad+Gud)expire and have hopefully been replaced by Vesalainen and Samberg while Wheeler is on the decline with the Penguins.
Bjugstad and Gudbranson are just placeholders till this team is a little more experienced and ready to contend.

Who cares, Wheeler is a crappy leader, is 33 and his contract sucks, time to move him while someone might actually want him. A rational fan knows when their team is a contender or not, they're not so it's best to clear out dead weight while someone might want them.

Nope, what's a 33 year old winger who makes $8.25M really worth? I'd rather have one of your prospects but gotta make the money fit for cap strapped Pittsburgh so chose those two.

dude he had 91 points back to back years lmao. hes an amazing player. very unlikely he gets traded. if he were to though, he would cost a lot.

8.25 AAV is a great contract for someone who had 91 points last year... youre wild.

Even though he's a constant 90 point winger you want to get rid of him for basically nothing?

Sure, have heard some stories which make me question his leadership, he's really not the guy to be leading a young group, best to move him while it's even a possibility.

For now but when the decline starts it'll be a very ugly contract and then he'll be impossible to move.

Maybe it is somewhat rational to think they are no longer contenders this coming year. But why prefer getting stuck in a constant rebuild? You want to trade Wheeler and Connor (other threads), these are two of the guys who actually put up results. Yeah there are other young guys who ooze potential, but at the end of the day results are results. If they need to shake things up by dumping Wheeler though, they surely get a better return. There will be other teams, maybe the Canes for example, who could be interested.

Possibility is a strong word here. With full NMC and that $9M contract, there aren't many teams able to take that contract...and the ones that might be able to do it are teams Wheeler isn't waiving for, I'd assume.

I'd say Preds is your best option, if they don't sign Duchene as it's rumored. They might have cap room and slot in their system now since they've moved Subban.

idk If Pittsburgh has the assets you'd be looking for. We'd certainly offer up kessel but I dont think thats the direction you're looking at going. dont know if you have any interest in Schultz as a myers/ Trouba replacement since he only is 1 year away from FA. I could see a team like Carolina offering up a nice package.

Sure but in any thread where I've traded Connor I've tried to get fair value for him which is an entirely different debate. And it's not a constant rebuild, I truly believe the Jets contending years will be in 2-3 seasons when their young players like Connor,Ehlers,Laine,Roslovic, etc are all a bit older and more experienced which is why I'd trade Wheeler now to get rid of that contract and for a few other reasons.
Also in other threads where I've traded Connor it's probably an ACGM where I'm trying to keep them in contention but in all reality I wouldn't trade him, I'd sign him longterm and go for it in 2-3 seasons.

So you get my point but call me weird in a prior comment for wanting to move him, that makes no sense.. Lol
Can't see them trading with Nashville.

This argument is moot. He has a NMC and controls his destiny. If he does not want to go he does not go period.

Yeah and I'm thinking of Wheeler as an add for the Pens to keep going for it while Sid and Gino are still solid contributors but yeah maybe the Canes would be a better fit.

I theoretically get your point on why you want to move him - I just don't agree with it and think it's weird to move your leading scorer from last two years for basically nothing.

So that eliminates 97% of the ACGM trades involving good players getting traded to Winnipeg then.. Lol
