i wouldnt trade Shaw for Leddy let alone Drouin

Drouin's young , averaged 50 pts over 3 seasons and still growing

Leddy was on a team who won a cup inspite of him not with him .
Leddy was -8 and 14m with 5 CHI D carrying the load with 4 playing 22+ minutes .
After their cup win they tried increasing his role and it didnt go well so they dumped him .
Trever Van Rymsdyke became the new leddy as on CHI 2015 run he also couldnt be trusted
so his minutes were also cut with 4 D playing 24-31m on average carrying the load completely .
in both case the D mentioned were not relevant to the Cup victories so its unlikely he would be in MTL

Coach Q couldnt trust him and instead double shifted Keith
He's a great player for a team looking to make the playoffs , not win them
Leddy doesnt show up in the playoffs ... not in CHI or NYI so why would he in MTL?

If we sign Panarin and Bob there is no choice but to trade Leddy for picks and/or prospects. We need the cap space to ensure signing Barzal, Pulock, and Toews next season.

I also think the Bob contract is too light. I'd be very surprised to see that as the final number. I think he pushes $10x7 - which yes, sucks for years 5-7 but that's probably what it takes to sign him and Breadman

You’re calling drouin a “playoff guy” after one appearance? Maybe if he wasn’t invisible from January to April and played with some heart Montreal would have made the playoffs this season. By the way, Leddy’s performance in the playoffs in 2014-15 and 15-16 was pretty impressive!

one's more then Leddy did
atleast Drouin played a top line role that push
Leddy was a burden going from 22 minutes in the MIN series opener to 3 minutes and 25 seconds in the Cup winning game vs BOS

if you forget how bad he was its because you're choosing to .
when it comes to Leddy he was never a factor in CHI success
its why after unloading him they immediately won the cup

No offense man, but your takes on Leddy are absolutely abysmal. Since he joined the Isles, he (and boychuk) have been the foundation of the Isles D. He's been a consistent 40+ point D man, who has excellent speed and moves the puck out of the zone, all while averaging over 22 minutes per game. His offensive numbers took a hit last year (as did ALL Islanders players) because of the defense first style Trotz employs.

The ONLY reason the Isles are looking to move Leddy is because he is valuable and can return a Top 6 forward or a haul in picks/prospects... and because we have his replacement in the system already.

buddy he was 22 at the time - players can develop and get better did you know that? In 2014-15 he had 5 assists in 7 games during the playoffs and the next year the Islanders would not have won the series against Florida without Leddy's performance. Great defensive play led to his rush up the ice to set up Tavares to tie the game in game 6 against the panthers (with 1 min left).
