Barkov is the better all round player. McDavid is the better offensive player. Barkov produces almost the same amount of points last season but his far superior defensive play to McDavid makes up the difference. Barkov also makes less than half of McDavid's salary, but still produces similar numbers. With Barkov being the better complete player and on a better contract it allows the team to assemble the rest of the roster with better players to surround him. Just ask Edmonton how it's worked out to surround McDavid with good players with his contract..
