I really don't understand why so many people keep doing Krug for Mantha. It makes no sense for either team to do.

It makes a lot of sense for the Bruins but I doubt the wings go for it, if you really want to trade Krug to DET, Krug+ for AA is probably closer to realistic.

You don't get to put both Miller and Moore on LTIR, you won't get a full year of relief. 3.5 is a lot for a bridge deal, I'd go 6x4 or 2x2.5

No it doesn't make sense for Boston lol. They are coming of a SCF appearance where Krug was 3rd on the team in points and 1 point behind David Pastrnak. He's an elite offensive d-man and those don't grow on trees. There are roughly 100 players every given year that hit the 50pt mark...there are maybe 10-15 d-men that can put up 50+ points in a given season. Just because he's a pending UFA doesn't mean a thing. Krug has said he'd love to sign a long-term deal and stay with Boston, he loves the city and he's loyal to Sweeney because he's the only one that even gave him the time of day during his NCAA days.

Not to mention (and I know the pink hats think otherwise), there isn't a single guy on the defense that can QB the PP for Boston. You trade Krug and the PP is going to suffer very much.

Or they are just a bust...like Nail Yakupov. Does anyone really trust the talent evaluation of Edmonton? This team has had how many high end picks? JP has less points and more GP than Charlie McAvoy....a defensemen.

Why is the PP more important that 5v5 play? I have never understood that angle from bruins fans. "best pp QB"... Tell me, when the whistles get swallowed in the playoffs would you rather an undersized offensive defenseman powerplay specialist or a guy that can score 5v5. Blues won the stanley cup final... how was their powerplay? over 50% of krugs points come on PP. I also believe if grz got 1st line pp action he could produce similar numbers to krug. Im sorry but trading krug for a top 6 rw would be a great move for this team.

The Bruins lost the cup in most part because they needed a top 6 forward and had to rely on fourth liners like Kulhman and Backes. I love Krug and if he wants 6x6.5 I'll sign him tomorrow. If not he's your best asset to acquire a top 6 F since you can't sign a UFA. Mantha is an absolute stud and would help this team at 5v5. I agree the PP wouldn't be as good but the whistles get swallowed in the playoffs, can't be a PP heavy team.

The PP is kind of important and when you have one, you want to make the other team pay for it. BTW Grz got a chance to QB the #1PP and it didn't end well. Just because he's small can skate and is left handed doesn't mean he's the next Torey Krug. Grz is a more balanced version of Krug and will never put up the points that Krug does. He'll be a better defender, but not nearly as lethal on the offensive side of things.

This whistles weren't swallowed until the STL complained about the officiating. Boston also isn't a PP heavy team, their top guys just crapped the bed when push came to shove. Marchand, Bergeron, Patrnak...all 3 didn't show up in the SCF plan and simple. If they even give you a 3rd of their normal production, Boston wins the cup.

Grz qbing #1 unit was too small a sample size to truly tell how he will fair on that line. Remember youve had roughly the same powerplay unit for 3 years with marchy, pasta, bergy, krug, and then a filler player here between krejci, debrusk, etc. I would bet some decent money grz could get you at least 2/3 of krug production if you gave him 3 years on a line with those guys. Idk when push comes to shove i value 5v5 scoring more than pp scoring. I see where you are coming from, alot of people make that same arguement, i just personally think this team as constituted would benefit more from a top 6 rw than a pp specialist.

Fine, this team still needs a top 6 F and Mantha is young and under team control, you're not dumping Krug but adding a position of need from a position of strength

You think Grz give you 40pts? The guy has never broken over 20pts in a season. If you think he going to the #1PP is going to more than double his career average, then your basically saying that the PP would be fine without Krug.

You're right, they do need a Top6 winger. In this case though your robbing Peter to pay Paul. You're giving up roughly 60pts on the backend to add 50pts on the front end. Few other things...

Mantha gets nearly 18 minutes a night in Detroit, he's not going to get that in Boston. Krejci see's around 17 minutes a night (plays the PP) and DeBrusk sees around 16 minutes a night. He also played on the 1st PP unit and I don't know that Mantha would get the same look on the #1PP unit in Boston.

Trading Krug will hurt the Bruins. You can't expect the overall team scoring to be the same. There's really not many defensemen in the NHL that can quarterback a powerplay like Torey Krug can. Grzelyck may be more defensively sound than Krug, but it doesn't mean Grzelyck can make up the offense for Krug. Grzelyck doesn't have the offensive dynamic that Krug brings to the table.

Why is that so off base? This was Grz second full year in the league and he put up 20 points as a 6/7th dman. If he gets half or even 2/3 of krug production thats 15-20 points on pp alone. PP will be fine without krug. Krug had 30 points on the pp last year also with 21.18 average ice time. HUGE difference between playing 2nd line defense 1st line pp and playing 3rd line defense and 2nd line pp. Ide love to see how many times grz rolled out with the top 2 lines vs how many time krug did. I believe grz could get 40+ points as your 2nd line ld and 1st line pp qb.

1st and foremost, Grz has never put up 20 points lol. 2nd, You significantly undervalue Krug lol. If you trade Krug, you'll be screaming for someone to QP the PP at the TDL.

I wont if they get production out of the guy they trade for. sorry grz played 66 games and had 18 points i rounded up. Also for all the points krug GAINS on the PP he loses actually playing defense.

I dont like krug, i thought this past contract was a huge overpay. They should trade him while his value is at its absolute highest.

Chara and McAvoy had a worse oiSV% than Krug did this year. Krug also lead all Bruins d-men in CF% Rel with a 3.5, meanwhile Grz was a -1.9 CF% Rel.

If Krug is ultimately dealt, I would think McAvoy would take over the power play, not Gryzlak. At least on the first unit.

yeah, i was keeping chain going. whats it matter? Stats are only meaningful if it supports your arguement. Torey krug in the last 3 years is a combined minus 12 while also putting up 163 points. give me 5v5 hockey over pp production 1 thousand out of 1 thousand times.

LOL, the +/- stat? It might be the most laughed about stat in all of hockey and no one puts any value it in.g

I think that depends on preference. If Cassidy didn't want to mess with things to much, he could keep Grz as he's left handed. I personally would go with McAvoy though, much more dynamic of an offensive player. If ANYONE could replace Krug's production its McAvoy.
