I like what the Avs are building, but any offer sheet to MM16 would need to be in the +12.5-13M AAv i'd guess for the leafs no to match

Marner is a dynamic player I agree but 11 mill and 4 1st rd picks are pretty steep

I'd be curious to see how the market shakes out. Will the Rantanen's/Aho's of the world hold off until Marner signs? He could end up setting the market for these guys.

hard pass...if you want to burn 11m in UFA, toss it at Panarin who is at the table as an option for him. No one is offering sheeting Marner, lets be real here

Marners camp pretty much said that they want Matthews money at the very least, Would imagine that the OS would need to be near McDavid money for Mitch to sign it. This wont do it.

He wont get it though, this is text book Darren Ferris. This situation is not as bad as it sounds. Nobody is offersheeting a player like Marner and giivng up 4 1sts

Marner is a great player, but just not worth 4 first round picks. If Avs are going to offer sheet someone, it should be Aho to a 5x9.5/9.75M contract (need to trade ARI 3rd to the Panthers in exchange for COL 3rd). Carolina was way off with their first offer (8x6M) and it would put a lot of pressure on the Canes. Their goalies won't come back, they are likely going to buyout Darling, they have the Marleau contract and did a terrible De Haan trade. Canes aren't looking as good as this year I guess. Aho would sign the offer sheet and the Canes will likely match, but still..

I dont think so, marner isnt enough to win a cup. With that contract the avs go from the most cap space in the league to the leafs this offseason

Darren Dreger said on TSN 1050 radio that there are three teams that will meet with Mitch Marner for sure, possibly four. He added that both an agent and an NHL executive told him that an offer sheet from at least one of those teams would be “in the teens,” $13-14 million for five years.

These updates are leading to speculation that, for the first time, the Maple Leafs might simply consider taking the offer and the picks, getting the cap space they need and signing someone else in free agency.

Elliotte Friedman has already said that other teams are terrified with what the Maple Leafs may do with the extra salary cap space, draft picks, and a mission of vengeance if a team scoops Marner in this way.
