Description
The 2nd and 3rd lines are really 2 really good 3rd lines

I signed Lindholm because the playoffs proved that you need guys like him and Nordstrom

Jets draft Ryan Suzuki with 20 OA. If they feel he isn't going to drop, then move up using 2nd or comrie

Hopefully pionk can develop nicely into a top 4 RHD. If not we make a top 4 RHD rental. Maybe hamonic from CGY?

Laine isn't signing that.

Gotta blow this team up a bit, ship out the two oldest players on the team.

Really curious as to why most Jets fans want to blow their team up after one unsuccessful playoff run?

Because their is issues with the coach and locker room. I think a good first step would be firing Maurice.

if that's the case then just fire the coach, you have a good core group of players. The trouba trade had to happen but panicking and moving others is just mismanagement if you ask me.

His bridge deal will not be over 7 million. 5-7 million on a bridge is fine. Generally, a bridge deal is 60% of what a player would get if he were to sign long term. I think if laine signs long term 9.5 mil is the max, and 60% of that is 5.7 million. I am doing more that that.

Kucherov signed about 4.5 million for 3 years. Adjust the cap % and you get around 6 million for 3 years. I overestimated to be safe

Don’t either but signing myers will take too much money and we need that money to pay morrissey and roslovic, appleton, and niku to some extent. Hoping pionk grows into a top 4 guy with chiarot and niku can develop nicely as well

We can always make a cheap rental like Washington did with jensen

I do not think this is blowing it up. I made 1 trade to get younger and cheaper. Also didn’t sign a few guys so we can pay guys like morrissey, niku, roslovic, and Appleton next year

If this team still underperforms next year with all the talent on the roster, the jets need to fire Pomo. But for now, keep him as no one knows the players better than him.

He is also the same guy who took us to the wcf last year. Have some patience Maurice wasn’t the only problem this year.

That’s is the definition of pressing the panic button which it’s too early for

No its not, trading Ehlers for Hamilton or Faulk to try and 'go for it' or just for cap space would be hitting the panic button.

Realizing you're not a contender and you have a couple aging players with big salaries and you're better off to move them for assets and keep your young core and retool to be contenders in two to three seasons would be smart moves by the GM.

Honestly, this depends on which old players. If you mean Wheeler (our captain) and Buff (alternate captain), then I would say that's pressing the panic button. the team needs to work on the defence then its a contender. Even if wheeler is a cap dump in his later years his leadership now is invaluable. He is the spitting image of what this franchise wants from its players. Buff only has 2 years left and is still arguably a #1 d if he would stop his occasional stupid mistakes and could stay healthy. Little essentially cannot be moved. He has a NMC until the expansion draft.

Perreault is almost as good as gone this year. Kulikov may be better off keeping than giving a fortune to dump. Other than that, I cant think of any other old players

Yup that's exactly who I'm talking about, think about it, they have a massive hole on defense, no center that Laine works with and no cap space to address these issues. How are they a contender with those issues? Sure yeah they can maybe move Perreault but what's the hold up, why hasn't Perreault been traded yet? Then there's the Laine's center issue, that's gonna be tough to figure out and yeah I know Roslovic might be the guy for the job but it isn't happening until Maurice is fired which probably isn't until 3/4 of the way through next season at the earliest and in the meantime Buff and Wheeler have both gotten older and have less value and by the time they've sorted out the Laine center issue Wheeler is further into his new contract and if he's declined much they may be stuck with him and his brutal cap hit. Seriously it's time to trade Wheeler and no he's not a good leader nor is Buff, they should both be stripped of their letters.
Trading them wouldn't be panic moves, they'd be planning for contending in the near future moves.

I really think this team is never winning a cup while Blake Wheeler is in its lineup.

You have your opinions and I have my own. The jets have a 3 centers for laine in Roslovic, Copp, and Scheifele. Maurice doesn't choose to use them, his problem. His job not mine. Add to that list possibly ryan Suzuki (who I think will have a similar career trajectory to barzal) or lavoie and that's even better. Maybe even add a trade (not a rental though)

This teams needs to be less serious IMO, which losing buff contributed to. Wheeler is too serious and buff balances that out.

this team needs to resign one of chiarot or beaulieu and needs to make a cheap rental like Braun, gudas, Jensen, etc have been made in the past by other teams (ie do not give up a 1st or really good propsects)

I do agree that Maurice needs to clean up his act. The constant line changes, putting the same guys together despite them not working, etc are hurting us. I think this is finally the season where Laine gets a C though since we will need to spread established talent/young prospects throughout the lineup. Maurice is also starting to trust Roslovic (as apparent by how his role increased every game in the playoffs)

Edit: Missed the Perreault point sorry
I think that teams are waiting to trade for guys like Perreault, Zaitsev, etc because 1)they want to know the cap number and 2) they are waiting for the draft to see who they miss or if they want to move up to grab.
This is not just me as TSN, SN, and NHL.com insiders have said the same thing
