THE CAROLINA TRADE WILL NOT HAPPEN

It's been widely rumored by multiple legitimate sources. For good reason, it makes a lot of sense.

And the Eaves trade doesn't happen because Eaves is just gonna go on LTIR and his contract is insured so there's no money saved in trading him.

That trade hasn't. Lebrun said something about the two teams looking at pieces not the exact trade. Please stop following the sheep.

Yes, Kapanen was traded. Johnsson is projected to recieve 2.4m in arbitration, which dictated the number I arrived at.

Friedman, Lebrun, and if I'm not mistaken, McKenzie.

I have been saying for 3 weeks the Leafs will need to come to them with 3+ years and $4.2275M AAV's; this will then force any team to spend a 1st + 3rd if they dare offer sheet; anything less is just a 2nd rd pick

Same with Marner, needs to be 10.568M+ for the 4 1st rd picks

That means they will need to pay them that. And no one will offersheet them, Because they will need to shed 10+ million and can steal Nylander and kadri after awful years and value at all time low.

you are mistaken...about all three. They may have reported that at the beginning of last season there were Nylander for Pesce talks, but that ship has sailed. Kapanen, a cap dump, and a pick was never in play, because it's insanely low value for carolina.

You’re speculating not reading or listening to the true quotes. The ‘insiders’ are connecting dots based on perceived supply/demand and conversations and scouting that took place months ago dating back to the Nylander negotiation.

Just because one of these guys say ‘if I were Carolina/Toronto I would be looking at this...’ isn’t a rumor.

Carolina in talks with Faulk on an extension. Tells me they aren’t interested in moving their RHDs now.

The offer sheet is nothing more than media hysteria to generate traffic. We have seen general managers are unwilling to use it because you end up spending assets to overpay a player, and it only leads to retaliation. Furthermore, the leafs being the richest franchise are the last team in the entire league a gm would like to get into this fight with. “If a team wants to go down that path with us, that’s the way it goes, but our goal will be to continue to work with these players.”

"LeBrun: So, this is not a Marleau conversation, this is a Zaitsev conversation. You know, if they package Zaitsev to Carolina along with Johnsson or Kapanen, and does that get you Pesce or Faulk or Dougie Hamilton? I mean, I think that’s … I would monitor that one because I think it’s something that the Hurricanes might be willing to do at some point."

"They’re very likely going to move pending UFA winger Micheal Ferland and they’re still listening to offers on some of their defencemen. They’re willing to move one of their top-four guys — teams are calling about Dougie Hamilton and Brett Pesce — in exchange for a top-six forward with offensive skill. "
