Description
If Turcotte is taken by CHI at #3, and with Byram still on the board, what would the price be to swap picks #4 and #5 so the Kings could ensure Byram? Also, Colorado fans, do you think your team is more likely to choose one of the remaining centers, or Byram?

I bet they take Byram. Who knows what happens with EJ? Is Barrie going to be extended? Is Z the expansion target? Defense could look very different in the next 3-4 years.

I think the draft really starts with Colorado. They can pick either way, and there hasn't been much information regarding what their leanings are. I've read that they didn't interview many forwards that are expected to be available around their 16th pick. I don't know if that's heresy or factual, but it leads me to think they're looking at one of Cozens or Dach instead of Byram. That way they look at a defensive pick at #16. Who knows?

A lot imho, though I seem to be in the minority on the whole 'trading up' idea. Everyone thinks the Avs will go C but I think Joe is still a 'best player available' man so if Byram is there he'll take him, plus what a lot of people don't take into consideration is that the Avs have drafted a lot of RIGHT handed D men, and have little depth on the left side. Girard/Makar/Timmins/Byram could be a future great top 4. I honestly don't think teams will want to pay what it will take to move up into the top 4.

As a Kings fan, I'm mostly concerned with a 1 spot swap. #4 for #5+????, so it's not a huge jump or fall or either team. I'd be inclined to do a trade if it was for a roster player and #5. Someone like Toffoli or something, so the Avs could help round out their top-6. Not sure how I'd feel with other draft picks, but that's why I'm curious to see what Colorado fans think the price would be.

I think Knight if he's still there. The Avs aren't deep in goal. After Grubauer & Francouz there's Werner and a couple of prospects in Anunnen & Shmakov. Maybe they re-sign Martin or Cannata to be back up to Werner, but if Knight is still there I'd take him, even if he needs a bit more development time. That would bring Byram back into the picture and Joe tends towards 'best player available'. As stated above, in a few years time a top 4 of Girard/Makar/Timmins/Byram plus big Z (assuming not taken in the expansion draft) and ANother could look REALLY good.

I don't see LA doing it to move up one spot. Just doesn't make sense to me, same as the DET fans suggesting it. Not enough gain for too much outlay.

Agreed we have to take Byram if he's there, but doesn't hurt to hear offers. I'd take the Kings 2019 2nd rounder with 5th OA, for example. Maybe the 2020 2nd instead, even, but not much less than that.

Edit: I'd definitely take Toffoli, but that sounds like overpay.

Knight is an interesting choice for Colorado. I don't know too much about your guys' prospect pool on the goaltending side of things, but what you say makes sense. And it is less of a risk for a team with 2 first round picks to take a goalie in the mid-first round. I guess that would be relying on Florida not to take Knight because that is one of their best options, I'd imagine.

I'd be alright with the 2019 1st (#5 OA) and the 2020 2nd rounder. To me that seems like a fair value.

you could always throw them Jeff Carter at 50% retained .
he's older now and deffinately just a 3rd line faceoff center but he can take 1000+ draws and win at 51-52% consistently

its not a huge value but that's kinda the point .
5th pick is still going to land a solid Center whether its Turcotte ,Cozens , or Dach .
COL gets 2 centers , 1 ready for a playoff push and 1 to develop for allowing LAK to draft Byram .

COL has a strong enough team as is that adding Byram immediately wouldnt likely be in the cards so they still have time to find a LD prospect of value if so inclined.

Girard and Zadorov are going to be there a while so there is no rush . However acquiring a Center to help with Bulk Faceoffs on 3rd line would help COL out giving them possession more often . (they tried filling that hole with Brassard but it didnt really work out , (as come playoffs Brassard is a ghost post NYR where as Carters a force on any team he's been on )

From a straight value perspective, not taking into consideration about who each team wants and if that's the guy they want no matter what, it would probably be a mid 2nd rounder.

I think the price would be LA's #5 and #87. With Colorado knowing LA will go d-man.

I think the price for Detroit to move from # 6 would be #6 and #60 with a B-level prospect or #6 and #54.

Trading up into the top 4 is viewed as too unobtainable by some especially when #5 and #6 going back are involved and they both want a d-man. While your board favors centers. In LA's case you are losing out on no one and gaining a 3rd. In Detroit's case you are losing out on 1 of Zegras, Cozens, or Dach and can select from the remaining two plus get a 2nd (which will help move up from the other 1st round or 2nd round positions).
