I don't think CGY is trading for a guy whos reportedly been on the market for awhile and other teams have shown little to no interest in. Hamiltons value has probally gone down, but hes still worth a mid 1st+. Eberle is not a good value at 6M. That dramaticly reduces what you get for him.

Fair enough. I figured since Calgary could really use some scoring, Eberle would be a good fit. Id have to disagree with you on his value though. Eberle consistently puts up around 55-60ish points. Hes around 10th overall in scoring for wingers in the last 5 years, behind your Ovechkin/Benn/Kane's who are elite players. Eberle at his cap is exactly what a first line winger makes. Is he poor defensively? Yes. But 1st line players are the ones taking risks and looking for offence. Its nice when they establish a two way game, but most 1st line wingers are offence first players. 1st line center men are the ones who typically establish a solid 2 way game while still putting up points.

Sooooo why isn't this trade fair then? Hamilton lost value, Eberle isn't worth 6M but both teams are getting a player at a position they need at pretty much the same cap,age and term......... Doesn't that by definition make the trade somewhat plausible?

Also just because someone is on the trade market doesn't mean he is no good. (Duchene, Barrie, Drouin, etc) Eberle has a ton of value still. Maybe not McDavid value but still good value.

I can't imagine division rivals wanting to help each other out with a big name trade since this is exactly what each team needs. 23 year old, 40 point, right handed d-men can't get traded for 60 point wingers.

The Wild give up a RHD (Dumba) for a LHD; which they already have too many of, and wouldn't even make the team; and a RW (Nino) for a RW that had 20 less points. That must be one hell of a 2nd rounder in 3 drafts to even things out.

        Wild pass.
