And if Killorn doesn't waive his NTC? I know on this site, only Marner and Kapanen are subject to offer sheets, but if that was Tampa's top offer, Point just might get an offer sheet or two.

It also amazes me that point is fine at 3@7 but if you offer that to Marner on CF there will be hell to pay

no offense to other teams that want to offer sheet point . . . tampa's life style is unmatched the teams great, the weather is great,, i don't see point signing anywere else because majority of the teams that can offer sheet a guy like point are not exactly in a playoff position or they are mediocre . and if he does get sheeted . . . tampa would likely get 4 1st round picks that are unprotected and if you dont make the playoffs with an offersheeted point you could end up being in a lottery position. and tampa could find another point in that situation. Also this would seem not financially smart but for the killorn situation not waiving his ntc he would get bought out considering his payout is somewhat low its just long,

Stop it. It's what players pay in taxes not what the posted personal tax rates are.

This, but for Marner.
Also I still think a low-key (unlikely) possibility is Point for Monahan. Helps your cap issues, have a great young player on a steal of a contract for 4 more years. Point is from Calgary which might help getting him to go. I'm just sayin it does make some sense, not that it'll happen thanks to chicken**** GM's

Well the post was 7m x 3 It not like is was 9. X 6, Now I admit Tampa can get away with some hometown discount. But as I suggested if Tampa's top offer was 7m. a 10.5m X5. which I believe is two firsts a second and third would not be an unreasonable offer sheet.

that is accurate, tampa would likely move gourde/miller and perhaps callahan at the draft so it's more than likely they'll have the cap space to match a 10.5 offer sheet.

Sorry but how are the lower tax rate and Tampa's culture of taking a little less not accurate points?

Lots of players have taken a bridge on the team and lots have taken less than market on long term deals.

I would even suggest that if Point received a 10.5m offer sheet he wouldn't sign it. He would as leverage and let Tampa come in with let's say a 9.5m contract. Then he stay in Tampa, Lighting happy, Point happy.

Amazing all the tax experts on here . Did not think Starbucks was that complicated. Couple points:
1. Tampa has same "home advantage" as Panthers Nashville and Vegas and soon to be Seattle.
2. It is only for home games .. road games you play tax in that state. Also visiting teams in Tampa etc.. dont pay taxes playing here.
3. Not sure all players declare their home arena as full time residence.
4. As for culture.. Europeans like "big cities" .. particuialry the Russians .. big advantage NY LA and Miami .. Tampa kind of a boring place comparably

So when. I hear all the tax and lifestyle crap .. it better than Buffalo but it ain't that big.

Good points:
1. Are any of those teams able to sign Point to an offer sheet? Any of those teams have similar discount contracts?
2. Correct, yet still they get 50% of their games with no state tax. Hence tax savings
3. What kind of an agent would not have a player declare his home residence in the location most beneficial to his client?
4. Yet somehow Kuch and Vasy are happy there and Kovalchuk isn't. Winning have anything to do with it?

- contender for years to come
- one of the best organizations in sports
- no State Tax
- first class training facilities
- easy going community that is respectful to the players and give them their own privacy
- the weather
- sea and beaches

Do you really think a couple of more bucks are all that matters to a player?
Point agent said this in regard, talking about Point future contract: “It’s about winning, taxes, quality of life, and where you want to be,” Johannson said. “Players ultimately want to do what they want to do. I always say, ‘The best deal is not always the most money, the best deal is the best deal.”

If you saw a following post I wrote , I concur that most money isn't necessarily the best. But a 7m X 3 could be surpassed easily on an offer sheet if that the best offer Tampa made.

"I would even suggest that if Point received a 10.5m offer sheet he wouldn't sign it. He would as leverage and let Tampa come in with let's say a 9.5m contract. Then he stay in Tampa, Lighting happy, Point happy."

But you make make out that Tampa has all those unique good qualites that no other teams have. C'mon.
