I know everyone says Trouba doesn;t want to sign in Canada, but this is just addressing the rumor and how I would do it. Only way I see it even being able to happen is if you can move Zaitzev.

Take out Zaitsev and Ottawa may entertain that... Brown is a 4th line player and a 2nd is about the value of Demelo... but, Ottawa has use for him so they should just keep him... Nobody is taking Zaitsev

You just can't ignore the "Canada" factor for Trouba or Trouba's long term desire to be a UFA in 2020. So it's an overpayment by the Leafs. Plus Winnipeg would have to do more cuts to their roster for cap reasons if they accept that trade.
That's a really heavy price to pay for DeMelo, just to get some cap space.

i wouldnt be so sure about that. Some awful contracts have been moved in the past, and zaitsev is about neutral in terms of his on ice contribution.

I still dont think it will happen because like it or not the leafs probably need him on D for at least next year.
