It is him or Nylander and your GM said the later isnt going anywhere. Marleau says he isnt waving his NTC for anything.....so Kadri is the odd man out if you want to keep Marner

haha. Brown doesn't save you anything and Zaitev's contract is too huge for anyone to want it, not to mention one could argue you need to upgrade on defense. Face it, you have to choose 2 between Nylander, Kadri and Marner

$2M+ is not nothing and there is always someone willing to take bad contracts. Between the 2 of them its as much as you would save by trading Nylander and you arent trading top end players.

Everyone loves to hate the leafs and are quick to say they cant keep everyone, and sure they have some problems rn but they wont lose any of their core. After this year they will get $6.5M of cap space just from marleau alone and all the big guys will be locked up. This year is the only year where it will be hard and Dubas wont sacrifice the future for 1 year of possible success.

you are in denial....you are likely losing Nylander or Kadri if you want to keep Marner, who is going to want his 10-11 million and may even be given an offer sheet. You aren't likely to trade Zaitsev when both Gardiner and Hainsey are UFA's and you dont have anyone else as depth behind Reilly and Muzzin. You are 5 million under the projected cap of 83 million (kind estimate) and that is with only 17 players. You arguably need two defensemen, and you have three RFA's (besides Marner but including Kapenen) that needs to get paid.

No, in all likelihood two of your three gunners (Nylander, Kadri, Kapenen) are gone if you are going to pay Marner, to say nothing about upgrading your blue line.....period
