Description
NYR fans can't say this isn't fair. It's probably an overpayment considering the quality of the players available at 3, 11 and 15. That's what it would takes though.

Did you look at the latest rankings?
Caufield is 5, podkolzin is 13, Turcotte is 9.. and not one of them has the talent of Kakko.

It may be a fair deal by the numbers, but it'll never happen due to the talent drop off from kakko/hughes. I mean besides the fact chicago won't accept and i doubt philly does as well

Those trades are pretty fair actually... PHI needs to win now (after missing the playoffs too many times with the team they have) and they already have a TON of young high end prospects. I've seen many CHI post in which the idea of trading down in order to draft one of the centers available in the 5-10 area, was appreciate. Shaw is a pretty great piece and Bowman knows him and likes him very much (same thing with Saad when he came back). The EDM trade is harder to evaluate since the negative value of Lucic is itself hard to estimate... I'd say he probably worth alone a first between (17th-22th). Taking another cap dump in Manning and adding a guy like Lehkonen (who's appreciated all over the league) and a great RHD prospect like Fleury (who managed to be at a 0,4pts/game in the AHL at 19-20yo is clearly enough. I agree on the fact the big trade is less likely (but fair still).

EDM might say yes that frees up a lot of money and get a good prospect and and NHL player that's young, but thats a high pick to give up.

Re: Philly- In no particular order, the Flyers have Morin, Provorov, Gudas, Hagg, Ghost, Sanheim, MacDonald on the roster already for next year, plus Myers who appears to be NHL ready.

Considering they're going to start having to pay some of their young guys soon (They have lots of room right now, but that won't last), it doesn't make a ton of sense to me to add another dman, and give up an ELC that will be very beneficial in a couple of years.

The value is probably close, but there's no reason for Philly to make this trade.

You'll have to overpay hardcore. Just like the Eric Lindros trade.

Kale Fleury is a good prospect? Okay, whatever... he'd be buried on the Edmonton depth chart.

Cale Fleury with a C, would be your best Dmen U23 in the AHL next year (if Bouchard doesn't play in it).

He'll be behind Bouchard and Bear for sure, possibly Berglund too if he comes over. Also, Jones plays on the right side exclusively, Fleury isn't better than him either.

Meh.

LOL. Jones is the best d-man in Bakersfield right now - of all ages.

Who cares? Kakko has no say in where he gets drafted. Quinn Hughes wanted Detroit to draft him. They didn't and he's playing in Vancouver.

Hockey is a business not the Boys' Club. Just look at Jack Hughes's reaction when Devils won the lottery. (He apparently wasnt very happy with the result but he has to deal with it) He has to play for New Jersey no matter what even though he wants to play with Quinn Hughes's team. Before the draft he expressed his desire to play for Vancouver in a TSN interview.
