I don't see why Toronto is the one adding a pick in this deal. Kapanen has more NHL time than Greenway and the both have arguably the same upside. Kapanen's speed is well out of Greenway's speed upside and that's one of the most key skills in players in the new age NHL. If the pick is going with Greenway to Toronto, I could see it being fair value. Probably not a 2nd, but I could see Greenway and a 3rd or a 4th for Kapanen being fair value.
Now as I said, that's what "fair value" would seem to be. The issue is that Toronto management seems to think very highly of Kapanen and you'll likely have to overpay to get him. I don't think that Greenway is a bad option, but I don't think it's an overpayment either. You'd have to add more (likely that 2nd or something else) to get Toronto to really consider it
