I don’t think Cherry has anything against the players. I think he is sickened that management treats them like circus animals rather than pro atheletes.

I'm curious why you (or Don Cherry) think the storm surges were management's idea and not the players?

Because the players are on contracts and get paid either way. If it really was the players then I guess they’re only embarrassing themselves.

The problem of these trades would be the fact, that immediately after the trade, Don Cherry would start cheering for the new Boston players.

I really don't understand how having some fun as a team after winning a game is embarrassing. Really not understanding of all the hate on Carolina, they are happy they won and it builds team chemistry and makes them push harder to win IMO

It’s ridiculous... could you imagine the panthers having to do this after a game?

It started out fairly harmless but then it started getting ridiculous. Team building? This isn’t peewee hockey.

If the fans and players like it go right ahead and do it. I think it is a joke. That’s just my opinion on it of course.

First of all, it was the idea of Justin Williams, all he did was push the bounds on the traditional stick raise done after games. He started it, he ended it. Second of all, it draws fans, not just to Carolina. It crosses into main stream media, it's good for the publicity of the sport. You say this isn't peewee hockey and I get you're a traditional hockey fan, but they play a GAME for a living, if they wanna celebrate and get the crowd involved, they have full rights to. The Panthers could do this after a game because they've never had the support of the fan base. Carolina, when the team isn't mismanaged into oblivion, can be a good drawing market, and you saw that come January, Feburary, March, April, the building got louder, and louder, and louder. Fans were coming to see the hockey on the ice yes, but the surge after the game would have opened a lot of eyes to the sport, and just how much fun it is.

Like I said they can do whatever they want. Personally I think it is a cheap sideshow that makes the sport look dumb. Leave the dumb stuff to the mascots. Again this is just my opinion. Some people seem to like it, I think it’s stupid. If you want to grow the game then grow the game, not the sideshow. It’s not like it’s a new franchise.

As far as publicity for the sport it’s horrible publicity. But I gutless there’s no such ymthingvas bad press. I’ve never been much into growing the sport either.

Put it this way, you’ve discovered what I hope we can agree is the best sport in the world. Why would you not like to give other people the opportunity to see it?
