As a Winnipeg fan, I say yes all day. To make it more fair from a BUF perspective I would propose this: Trouba + Perreault for Ristolainen + 2nd? I could still be a little biased, but I think that is more fair for both sides value wise at least.

Girgensons is easy to get rid of. Don't offer him a contract.

    Bury Hunwick .

Montreal might have interest in Scandella. You might have to add to get nothing back.

Sheary would be the easiest one. Edm needs forwards.

Get Tage Thompson out of the line up.

Ristolainen has been heavily linked to Tampa as of late. I see Risto in Tampa before Winnipeg.

I agree, but with Tampa's cap crunch I just don't know. I think Risto would be a solid replacement for Trouba if he is set to leave

I agree that Tage struggled last year, but look who he was playing with... Sobodka?? I think if you give him a strong center such as JT miller and Rodrigues at LW he can hang with them. You're right tho, he needs to step up and will need some significant offseason development. Don't think it's right to give up on him though, he's only 20 and had like 8 goals in 11 Amerks games at the end of the season

I think with how desperate the Sabres seem to want to get better on defense and how badly Risto needs a change of scenery, they would overpay for him. Everything hinges on if Trouba agrees to sign before the trade, but IMO Risto is currently being underrated by Sabres fans. He is a solid 2nd pair and 2nd PP guy if he has a stable, skilled Defensive D-man to his left, which the Sabres have not had in his career here

I completely agree! This trade would 100% benefit both sides. Any trade for Winnipeg involving Ristolainen and Trouba, I am there for.

Great post. What do you propose for Edmonton? Sheary for a 3rd?

Ristolainen would not be a 'solid' replacement for any defenseman.

If Ristolainen is dealt to Tampa for Miller, with Callahan's contract included as a cap dump, the Lightning would gain about $5.6M of cap relief. However, a 1-for-1 of Miller for Ristolainen isn't an equal value deal and if Buffalo agrees to take on a 34-year old with $5.8M cap hit, they'd probably want Tampa to add a 2nd or 3rd round pick to offset the imbalance.

From every report and article about the Winnipeg situation, they will probably have no choice but to trade Trouba because they can't afford his current salary, much less the increase that Trouba will ask for, if they plan to re-sign Connor, Laine, Copp and some of their young RFAs. That being the case, I don't see why or how they'd take on Ristolainen with $5.4M cap hit. It sound more likely that, with no 1st rounder in 2019 after the Hayes trade, the Jets will probably shop Trouba to teams willing to give the Jets one back.
