Give it a few minutes and you'll get roasted on here for:
      a) Trading nylander away; and
      b) Thinking the leafs would move Kadri after re-upping him

I personally like the deals you've suggested and am confident Lou won't hesitate to move anyone if it improves the team for the long term and I think there's room for the leafs to move out depth at forward (be it vets, young roster players or top prospects) to obtain like kind in defense.

I think the biggest road block is a team trading for Kadri with that contract. Not suggesting it is a bad deal but he is still a bit of an unknown....

Potential goal scoring centres (Nylander) are worth more than Trouba.... In ten years, I might think differently. Bishop would help for one year then he's a UFA like Bernier. Rebuilding Leafs really don't need Garrison with Rielly and Gardiner on the LD. Arizona has lots of centres, can't see then giving up draft choices for 30 year old Bozak.

Palhal....I've seen tons of comments from you on this site about how GM's won't want to give up many assets for only 1 year of this guy or 2 years of that guy...I really don't think that factors in as much as you think. If you have an idea for how much the player is looking to re-sign for and are willing to make an offer in that ballpark, you make the deal. Going after a guy like Bishop would be with the assumption that you're willing to pay him big bucks long term. You've made similar comments with JVR and how he's only got 2yrs left...that's an eternity in the NHL world.

And I think the idea of acquiring Garrison was more for salary dump purposes on Tampa's part to make the deal more attractive for them. There are probably 10-12 teams that would give a 3rd rounder for Bozak so you can swap Zona out for pretty much any other team....and Trouba is a 22yr old defenceman with a high ceiling...you have to give to get. That's fine if you prefer Nylander to him but the offer is fair.

From a leafs pov i think these trades are extremely generous. Lou wants a 2nd for bozak and they originally traded a 4th for marincin. Considering how much marincin improved his game since then accepting a 3rd and a 5th doesnt make sense. Should be a 2nd and a 3rd IMO. Regarding the tampa trade, if garrison is a cap dump then toronto should be getting the 2nd rounder, not the lightning. I am all for trading for a goalie but it should be someone with term, not a 1 year ufa.

What he said. Exactly my thinking on all those points.

I don't disagree with you Brian... However, I would rather give up "too much" from the Leafs in these mock things and if we can get a better deal than that great! I would rather put out things like this and have some good discussion than just getting lampooned on here for Leafs robbing every other team if that makes sense.

I totally agree that you could get more for Bozak and Marincin in particular, but essentially the point is you deal them for as high draft picks as you can get.
