Description
Marleau Salary Dump - Can be any team really just figured Detroit is an up and coming young team and a veteran like Marleau could help players like Larkin.

Risto trade - buffalo fans seem to hate him so we would gladly take him, this seems like extreme under payment but thats what other people are saying when referring to his value.

Not even close for risto. Zastiev is cap dump and sabres dont need picks.

Also, Marleau is not going to be traded stuck with him.

Also, marner will never sign 4 year deal, Kappy will ask for a lot more on 5 year deal.

Terrible job.

The point of the Marner contract is its shorter than AM so it allows him to get the big money that will come eventually, within those 4 years there is no way he's not better by the end of it.

Second, the Kapenen contract is a 2yr deal, could even be a 1 "prove it" deal. No way he'd accept that longterm

Lastly, Zaitsev isn't as terrible as we think. I think babs has ruined him by wanting him to be a shutdown defender when he isn't. However even I agree that it's terrible under payment however i did see similar trades with other teams for Risto offering about the same. Zaits is to make the salaries work - he could go anywhere. If the money would work I could see him going to WSH to play with orlov (Russian Bond Maybe?)

risto is good in the oz but hes useless in the dz. zaitsev can be ok in the oz but after the playoffs he had he is actually tradeable. he was pretty good in the dz although that was almost all muzzin there are gm's who will see value in him. im not saying either of them are very good but at least zaitsev can play in his own end.

He has a full mouvement which means dubas will allow him to control his destiny. If he is willing to leave I dont think it will be too hard to find a partner. The honest truth is they cannot win the cup with him on the team making that much money.

You're probably right its a little optimistic, however I can see ottawa being cheap and not matching Duclair as he looks to go through "Ennis Rehab I want A decent Career" short term low risk, he could score tons playing with AM and WIlly and then go else where to get a check.

Scissons is just a dream, physical and exaclty what we need within our bottom 6 figures its worth a shot with NSH eventually gonna make big changes

So, let's look at this logically.
Question 1. Why would Marleau be willing to leave? Presumably, he still wants to play, and he's playing because he wants to win a cup (also, all indications are that he absolutely loves the dressing room he's in now). So, if that's the case, it's logical to think that the only way he would accept a trade is if it's to another cup contender. So let's just say in some fantasy land, that he's willing to accept a trade (this is a HUGE if, and is incredibly unlikely)...that brings us to
question 2. Can you think of any cup contenders (in other words, teams Marleau would hypothetically waive his no move for) that are willing to just eat 6.25 million in what is essentially dead cap?

He's staying.

I prefer Ristos size and ability to hit. Him and Muzzin on seperate pairs bodys would be getting slammed constantly. Also a cannon from the point

It might be a risk that Dubas is willing to take especially with Mitch. AM I wouldnt risk it but Mitch bleeds blue. Maybe a 3yr deal is more sensible

All very true points, VGK maybe could have space. Ideally for him itd be sharks with the leafs retaining which i can see happening

The sharks are busy trying to find room to re-sign Joe Thornton, Pavelski, and Karlsson. That won't be cheap.

Vegas is capped out and will need to deal players to get under an 83 million dollar cap.

Sharks want Karlsson and need to sign Meier along with Joe and Pavelski. No room for Marleau.

Zaitsev is better defensively than Risto. I think Risto has proven that his ceiling is 2nd pair. I don’t think he can handle the minutes or top lines. He’s still young and I could be wrong but that’s my opinion. He is talented though. I don’t see it as a good move for either team.

I think Risto on 2nd pair with McCabe could yield success. I think the leafs do not need a player like Risto.

To be clear though, I think Risto’s value is much higher than zaitsev’s, but not if he performs like he did this season next year.
