I don't think you'll see Point sign an 8-year deal for less than $9M. And even then, he may require NMC/NTC language to ensure he can control staying in Florida's excellent tax situation.

+ can't see ARI making that deal. They think pretty highly of Hinostroza. They won't be giving up any picks to do TB a favor and take on that Callahan contract, even with Killorn coming over.

I just can't see Point signing a deal like that given the money that other RFAs are getting. I think using Matthews as a comparison is fair, in that he should get 85% of what matthews got after you factor in the kinder tax conditions in Tampa. Thats 5 years at 9.88. Matthews reported 8 year demand was 13.8, so that would be 11.73. an 8 year deal at below 11 doesn't make sense to me if point is trying to maximize his worth. A shorter term deal makes sense, i think 6x10 would be fair for both sides.

well I hope nobody gets hurt on your team -> cause if you bust that cap, the penalty can get pretty rough

worth noting that a player can't have an NTC or NMC until he is UFA eligible, so he can't have one for another 4 years.

he has a spare defenseman and offenseman on the roster.. besides, you can place a player on injured reserve for temporary cap savings if you need to call up someone.. do you not understand the back end logistics/finances in hockey and are just going off the basic data here?

No way point gets paid more than Kucherov. Stamkos is still seen as the better center in Tampa so I also doubt them pay point more than him as well.

then they'll lose point, or get him on a 2-3 year bridge and pay him 13 in a few years. Things have changed. The league has changed. Players are getting paid off their ELC. The two highest paid players next year in the NHL will be guys on their second deal.
