I don't hate the VGK trade, but they are already probably going to be at the cap and this deal just adds more to it. For Boston to make a deal with VGK, I think they'll need to send some NHL ready prospects on ELC's.

Did he edit the trade or something? This deal adds 500k in cap + 2 ELC's to Vegas. Your comment isn't coherent unless he edited this after you wrote it which is what I'm hoping has happened because if you're trying to make a point about 500K being a lot of caphit or something even less impressive about ELC's fitting into their team it's really just going to fall on deaf ears because it isn't at all rational.

As VGK sits, their probably close to being over the cap already (with a $83 million cap)... and they need to sign Karlsson. Again they need to free up money. They show 17 guys signed for next year and need to add 6 guys to get to a 23 man roster.

Right, but you're giving them 2 ELCs who could possibly make the team. That atleast cancels out the addition of the 500K imo.

I'm saying VGK probably wouldn't want krug, they'd want a ELC guys. Few ELC's is what $1.8 mill? Tuch will be around $5 mill, so they save around $3 mill.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the difference between Krug and Tuch. You're saying they'd potentially trade Tuch straight up for ELC's without an established player coming in order to save cap? Maybe if they are Can't miss prospects, but I don't think Tuch is the guy you want to "dump" (its not really a dump but you know what i mean) in order to save money. His contract looks like a gem.

I mean if your going to move a contract, he'll net you the best return. Smith and Miller are probably other guys they could look to move too.

I'd trade Eakin and Reaves lol. I don't care what I get in return, Tuch's going to be worth 7M+ a few seasons from now and he's locked in forever.

They better get something really good if they trade Tuch. A real Blue Chip prospect, not a package of B- prospects and 3rd round picks.

They could go that route as well. At the end of the day they'll be looking to shed cap space and that was my main point.

Yeah I don't think I've done a Vegas mock, so I wasn't as aware of their Salary structure. They don't have a really high cap hit guy but I guess if you add enough 5M players together they can add up to a high team cap all the same.

They have some, Stone is 7+ going to 9+. Stats is around 6.5 and patches I think goes to $7 mill next year ($4 this year). Like you said though, it adds up.

Edit - Schmidt goes to around $6 next year for about $2 this year.
