Fire Treliving, I’m taking over as GM
Current lineup of sucking
Gaudreau/Monahan/Lindholm
Tkachuk (rfa)/Backlund/Frolik
Bennett (rfa)/Jankowski/Neal
Mangiapane(rfa)/Ryan/Hathaway (ufa)
Defence pairs of sucking
Giordano/Brodie
Hanifin/Hamonic
Valimaki/Andersson
Scratches of sucking
Kylington, Stone, Czarnik
Goalie tandem of sucking
Rittich(rfa)/Smith(ufa)
The Future (our only hope)
Dube, Ruzicka, Zavgorodny, Pospisil, Parsons, Zagidulin

What (realistically) can’t be done:
-trading Neal (too expensive of a deal for anyone), buying him out now (maybe wait until Seattle expansion)
-resigning Smith and Hathaway (too much of a cap crunch to do so)

What should be done (1st priority):
-resign Tkachuk to a cap-friendly extension (below Gil’s cap would be great, under 8 million is tolerable)
-resign Rittich (make him a developing starter rather than buying old bad goalies)
-resign Mangiapane (bridge contract under 1 million as inexpensive 4th liner)
-sign him to inexpensive contract/offer sheet is probably best option
*-trade Brodie for inexpensive roster d-man, d AHL player and pick
*-trade Frolik (rocky relationship with Peters) for inexpensive roster f, lw AHL player and pick
*-bury Stone in AHL minors or buy him out
*=clear cap space

What could also be done (to supplement team):
-free agency should be dedicated to finding backup goalie first
-find inexpensive depth pieces to fill in for Frolik and Brodie
-find another top 6 centre to strengthen 1-2 punch (not Monahan-Backlund)
-don’t believe in Lady Byng Trophy winners (ie. Monahan and Gaudreau; need more grit than sportsmanship)

Possible trade destination for Brodie:
-based on urinatingtree debriefing
Florida (they have Quenville) for Natk Pysyck, Patrick Bajkov, Jacob MacDonald and 2nd round pick 2020
Possible trade destination for Frolik:
-a possible package deal with Gillies , the rights to Mike Smith a 2nd round pick 2020 and 3rd round pick 2021 for Jonathan Quick and Kyle Clifford

Excellent rant! It's helpful to see another talented team being called out by its fanbase for sucking, even if the flames really don't suck. I understand the angst..

Over in leaf land it seems like we're ready to sack everyone, trade everyone and retire everyone all at once..

So, outta curiosity - could Kadri be that gritty, definitely not a lady bing 2C that, as part of some package, might pry Andersson in a trade?

Yeah that guy’s a total nutjob.

I find that in most cases the lightning don’t do what they should. In an ideal world, Callahan and Killorn are both traded this summer. And the only UFA we keep is Coburn on a cheap deal. And we call up Foote. I think too that it’d be better to have Point on a bridge deal, to save more money for the Vasy/Sergy/Cirelli group. I also think the Syracuse head coach Benoit Groulx could work better with this squad than Jon Cooper. Has a grittier play style, which would work well in the playoffs.
