I don’t think the Jets even consider that offer, it is borderline offensive. You didn’t give up even one of your top prospects

if he's signing for 10 m then just take him on offer sheets for the 4 first round picks he's worth it if we believe we've got the youth core in place to support him (i think we're a year from that but close enough)

this way Jets fans cant pretent they'd match it if you go for the max .

Trade Tatar for a 1st(and pick) , Drouin for a 1st(and prospect or pick) in the summer
Byron to WSH for late-last first round pick,and then Petry for a 1st (pick and a prospect )

fill out the roster with prospect and safe short term contracts to buy time for a player like Romanov committed 1 more year in KHL

this way you get it all back or close to if you only do a few of the deals

people tend to forget that players have to sign offer sheets......

The Jets probably shouldn’t consider trading Laine. He was one of their better players this series and was clearly playing hurt.

Some players (Laine, Point, Marner) are just untouchable even if their team has cap issue.

people seem to forget that its equally as likely he'd want to leave as stay.

Getting to go to MTL and play in the east where he can destroy the competition using his size and speed in a conference not known for its physicality compared to the West. We got a lot of cap and the ability to give him 10+m which is something WPG cant do today , tomorrow or in the future .
