Change Ottawa's Pick to Colorado's and remove the Habs and Colorado will probably accept. But I don't think Zadorov is the solution the the Habs' LD woes.

Why are the Habs giving up a 4th and 5th round pick to clear less than 200k of Peca's cap hit when they have almost 3 Million in cap space? That doesn't make sense.

Because he thinks Peca cant be waived or he cant be 13th forward. I dont know man, you'll see people not resigning Lehkonen or Kulak on this website

Heck no, at this point I wouldn't pick drouin over Zads straight up based on what he just demonstrated his dominance physically and defensively in that round 1 series. Point is Zads upped his game in the most crutuial time for the Avs...and Drouin withered down the stretch and doesn't bring anything else if he's not scoring

Sorry Montreal fans but Drouin is not that special, you aren't going to get a 4th overall pick or a big young piece of a teams blue line or him. No team is going to part with major assets

maybe just simplify this deal and make it Zadorov and Colorado's 2019 1st, and maybe a B- prospect for Drouin. Can't see Montreal giving up a d prospect to improve their d core now

Drouins not worth that to the Avs. He didn't even out score Carl Soderberg who didn't even have close to the quality of line mates that Drouin did. He's not special for the Avs to move an important Dman in Zads, the 16th overall and a prospect.

In reality, Drouin would Just be doing what Kerfoot is doing playing with Mack and Landy so why would Avs give up good assets just to have the same thing they already have

"In reality".. its amazing at what players can do with a change of scenery. & Drouin definitely has the skill to produce more. He had 50 points in his first 58 games or so, so the talent is there. Sometimes the change of a coaching style, or media market, or the smallest change can lead to more success. Plus he's played with MacKinnon before in junior and had tons of success. So the track record is there for enough value to come back to Montreal. Just look at Max Domi. No one ever saw the kind of production outta him that he had this season.

With Colorado's need for secondary scoring and they have enough d-man, it could make a lot of sense actually

As soon as you try to justify a player with a change of scenery, its just a way to cover up the warts of his game. He has the skill to produce more but he isn't a driver or an elite offensive talent, he needs elite talent around him to produce. That doesnt scream must trade for or acquire for secondary scoring.

Drouin is a good offensive talent but hes not special and is far too unconfident. Why give up assets for a guy that you can in UFA. I would take Ferland over Drouin 10 times out of 10, Sorry but Montreal fans hes not a franchise type player and I dont see any draw in getting him. Just bc he played with MacKinnon? So what, hes not taking Landys spot on the Left side of Mack.

Change of scenery example.. Max Domi. Josh Leivo is a lesser example. Changed teams and played a lot better. It's a real thing.

Also, never said Drouin was a "franchise player". But he is a secondary scorer.. exactly what Colorado needs. & I wouldn't say that Zadorov is a great asset to not be moved for more scoring. He's a good young player, yes. But they have internal replacements if they decided to move him. But for you to completely shoot the idea down is pretty asinine.

Drouin makes more sense over Ferland. Drouin can play all 3 forward positions. Ferland can only play the wings. Drouin could be on the second line as the centre with Rantanen to create a more balanced lineup and a deadly 1-2 punch.. makes a lot of sense for Colorado actually

Drouin can not play all 3 positions, he is terrible at Centre, a failed experiment there bc he has 0 defensive awareness. You think he is goign to centre the second line in Colorado? That would be a disaster. Drouin had issues in Tampa bc of his effort, he has issues in Montreal bc of his effort. Why would another change of scenery be any different?

Avs do not want, nor do they need a one dimensional winger. And you say Zads isnt a great asset and they have internal replacements for him....that is wrong as well. Avs do not have another Dman like him in the system, big physical defensively sound that is a very good skater. He shut down and destroyed the Flames top line in the playoffs.

Thats my point about why I wouldnt even think about it straight up based on recency basis. Zads stepped up and controlled one of the leagues best lines in the NHL in the playoffs and Drouin didn't elevate his game for 20 games to end the season to help push his team into the playoffs. Drouin isnt anything special and not worth giving up important to the Avs make up for

Nah, it's called no point in debating with a bias Avs fan who's always going to assume they're right just because the value their players more than other teams. Lol.

you might want to look in the mirror on that one....you are trying to claim Drouin value for how he can play all 3 positions, which he cant, says he needs a change of scenery, which he already has and has the same issues, and the claiming he would fix the Avs "secondary scoring" but Avs were one of the youngest teams in the league and still had a top 10 offence in this league.

Drouin cant do any of that so you might want to come to the realization and stop over valuing him

your points are over valuing him, which is wild if you are not a Montreal fan then you are just throwing stuff to the wall and hope it sticks bc what you are saying about Drouin is out of left field

I actually tought i was saving 400 000 and did not want him to take a place for a younger guy in laval. Just realise that you could bury minimal salary plus 375000, i tought you could bury only 900 000. Good learning on the cba for me smile. Ideally i would do the same kind of thing for weise, since my team is tight with cap if the player get bonus and you eant some cap room for a legit left d at the trade deadline and push back zadarov or mete on the third pairing. I also would not trade drouin if i cannot get the top 4 pick... I'd be willing to work on the trade and maybe replace fleury with somthing more interesting... That being said, i think there could be a trade to be made between these two teams and that if mb is creative, he could have a very good team on the ice if kotkianemi progress of 15-20% next year.
