Get rid of the Flames players that are holding the team back.
1st line:
-trade Gaudreau: disappears in the playoffs (get hefty return or one-for-one trade with 1st line playoff performer on a declining team)
-trade Monahan: disappears in the playoffs (hefty return or one-for-one trade with 1st line playoff performer on a declining team)
-keep Lindholm because of bargain contract (provide him better linemates...)
2nd line:
-Make sure the Jason Zucker trade happens
-resign Tkachuk to bridge contracts (3 years $20 million; $6.66 m/yr)
3rd line:
-more bridge deals for Bennett
-get rid of Neal’s awful contract (let him rot in Ottawa...)
-make Czarnik inherit Neal’s spot
4th line:
-resign Mangiapane to 2-year deal worth $3 million ($1.5 m/yr)
-if possible resign Hathaway (more visible in playoffs than Gaudreau and Monahan)

Defence core:
-look at defence stats after (probable) 1st round elimination, then trade accordingly (Hanifin and Hamonic)
-bury Michael Stone in the minors (or trade him along with James Neal to rot in Ottawa too).

Goaltending tandem:
-to resign/not resign Mike smith...
-definitely resign Rittich
