Value is fine from Leafs point of view. Not sure they do it but the value is fine. But why is Rantanen making less than Marner. He's been better than Marner.

????? So you want to offer Marner 11m but your own star Ranatanen 8.75m. It isn't any offer sheet, but it could very well be a trade. For long term cap reasons, the Leaf might want to exchange Barrie for Timmins

I like the post, Vince. And I'd really like to see more like these so I can get a better handle on all the hoopla about Marner = 12M, and if the leafs don't do that then Marner will walk on an OS.

I get that this isn't an OS, but I think Pal sums up why this likely won't happen. Even so, the idea of Marner and MacKinnon as a duo is a really fun thought..

I'd only add that in an absolutely worse case scenario for the leafs Marner might go on an OS, but I couldn't imagine his rights being traded. I think Leafs nation would hunt Dubas down and serve his head on a platter as an offering to the hockey gods if that happened in hopes that they would forgive us and not curse us for another 50 years...

Just to clarify, when a player signs an offer sheet. The "Leafs" in this case have 7 days to match and then they would get four first rounders. Also if Marner signs an offer sheet, the Avs/Leafs in that 7 days period, have time to work a trade, which would negate the four first rounders compensation.

Avs will continue and build thru the draft. If they are to spend on a FA they will go hard after Panarin.

The idea of MacKinnon and Panarin as a duo is really fun to think about too..
