Roadmap Summer 19 - Aggressive Version

Créé par: VOFS
Équipe: 2019-20 Rangers de New York
Date de création initiale: 11 avr. 2019
Publié: 11 avr. 2019
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
A plan for maximizing the opportunities available in free agency and trade this summer without sacrificing the newly re-built farm system or future cap flexibility. This roster features Kaapo Kakko picked at #2, but if the Devils pick him at #1, just pencil in Jack Hughes.

Please note that all trades away for draft picks are made primarily for cap clearing reasons and not to maximize trade returns. If you think any return is low or high, simply substitute the return you think is more likely. If you think any player will require attaching draft assets in order to dump, feel free to attach them.

The purpose of this roster is simply to demonstrate how the Rangers can build a playoff team this offseason if they so choose. It is not meant to be a prediction of what will actually happen.

Can't help but feel that you're giving up WAY too much for Perreault, especially considering the cap crunch Winnipeg is about to be hit with. Likewise, you aren't offering Carolina enough for Fox, but at the same time, they're risking losing him for free. Tough call.

I think Andersson needs to be in a better position to succeed if the Rangers are going to avoid doing to him what Edmonton did to Puljujarvi. I'd look at giving Kravtsov a year in the AHL in order to help him adjust to North American ice, moving Kakko to his strong side (RW), and putting Andersson in the #3LW spot. Your lines for the most part are a bit screwy, but I think that's one of the most glaring things that needed to change.

Also, I don't think Georgiev would be waivers eligible anymore; if you're committing to Shesterkin, he'll need to be traded or lost for nothing.

I'm not particularly interested in Trouba. But if I was, I think it would take a lot more than what I'm offering here.

Why a 15 goal 3rd liner that has 12 millionish left on his contract worth that

I think you guys are way underrating Perrault. But again, the point of this isn't to maximize return, but to show what a realistic aggressive offseason from the Rangers might look like. If you think we can pry Perrault away for less than what I'm offering then I'm all for that.

As for Fox, the Canes have zero leverage here. I'm pretty sure in the end all it's going to take is a deal that lets them save face.

I think Bellemare would be a great vet for Andersson to play with, and the intention would be to give Andersson more opportunities higher in the lineup as the season goes along and injuries happen/coach shuffles lines for chemistry reasons.

He's one of the best possession/puck moving/defensive centers in the league. Absolutely perfect to pair with two goal-scoring rookies who come in with tons of flash but don't have the fundamentals down yet.

Fair enough that’s why I like this site, the scale of opinions, and builds hit all the parameters,

As far as the rangers go, I believe there going to do what they always do and bring in over priced veterans that don’t quite play up to there contracts and block and frustrate there youth and remain in purgatory. My build would be stay the course, possibly add a player or two in that 26/27 year old neighbourhood that should be still in prime when this team comes around when some of the bigger contracts come of the books in a couple years, hammer free agency then with the youth developed. Only problem is sentimental feels to lundquist, staal and anybody else that are nearing the end and still in middle of rebuild

That Jets trade is laughable. I wouldn't even trade Howden straight up for Perreault

Then you're either severely underrating Perrault or overrating Howden

Perreault is coming off a 30 point season at 31 years old with a cap hit at 4.125 mil over the next two years. Lol yea I'm severelyyyyyy underrating him. Howden had 7 less points in 16 fewer games AND is only 21. Think you need to rethink how you evaluate players bud.

I don't believe raw points are the only thing that matters. Puck possession, puck moving, and defense are all things that centers need to be good at. Perreault is one of the best centers in the league at all that, Howden was one of the worst last season. Doesn't mean Howden is a bust, but it does mean that he's not a winning player just yet.

Exactly, "just yet." Why would you give up on someone who only has 66 games of NHL experience under his belt? Look, I understand that possession numbers are very important in todays game and I agree with you that it is an area that needs much improvement, but I would also argue that for a rookie his defensive game is well above average. Was consistently used on the PK earlier in the season and used for d zone draws. I just don't think Perreault is equal value. Agree to disagree I guess.
