Agree with colorado, zaitsev may need to be moved to another team. Karlsson with a front loaded in signing bonus may accept 10-11m on a 7 year term if he feels he has a chance to win a cup. The fact that we rival Ottawa May or may not be extra motivation.

Dallas needs a second line centre, as they're a one line team. But they could just end up signing a Duchene... The Leafs will get a first rounder for Kadri somewhere in the league, it doesn't have to be Dallas. The most important of all the trades is Zaitsev, but a team paying 3.7 million for him and only giving up a 4th seams reasonable to me.

I'm happy to sign Karlsson for an extra two years and keeping 10 million the number, or giving Karlsson that 1 million and looking for a cheaper 3rd line centre.

My gut tells me Karlsson would purposefully not sign with the Leafs out of his respect for Ottawa and their fans. He doesn't owe them anything but he seems like the guy that wouldn't do it. He'll get his money anywhere he wants and with just as good teams as the Leafs so choosing literally the team Ottawa fans probably would hate the most would be added bad joojoo for nothing IMO. (Unless he secretly always wants to play in Toronto specifically which then forget everything I've said)

It will take at least 7 x 11.5 to sign Karlsson and Kapanen will get at least $4 million per on offer sheets no way he signs for only $3 million per. You still don't have enough cap it's a 23 man roster not 22 man roster.

Let’s get the contracts up to reasonable. Minimum for Karlsson is 7x11. You can get Marner for 10, but it’ll be more like 5 years. You can get him for 8 years, but it will be at least 12 million.
