As you know LTIR do not affect the cap 99% of the time. LTIRs MIGHT affect when a team pays its performance bonus. So teams aren't going to be giving good picks for a giving away a meaningless LTIR. Ottawa should trying to manning their team with competent NHLers. Cap strapped team...Jets for example might "give" a player or two to Ottawa. A retired Marleau would be welcome trade by the Leafs. Flyers seem to lots of cap, don't think they would give a sweetener for MacDonald. You can be sure Ottawa is on Callahan's no trade list.

I think they would want to take as many LTIR players as possible (to lighten the load on poor Melnyk's wallet as most are insured). Maybe that would change it down to a lower pick, but I chose SJS's since it was likely the lower of the two you have.
