Description
There's a bit of risk here for both sides but I think it's pretty self explanatory what's going on with this trade.
Chicago takes a risk on Wennberg just needing a change of scenery and to get away from Torts.. Lol! But gets the younger C with more term hoping he can find his old form with Saad.
Columbus gets a still capable C in Anisimov who they're familiar with and who's contract expires sooner then Wennberg's does, they also get a former 1st round pick in Perlini and move up in the draft a round which is huge considering they have almost zero picks left after their TDL wheeling and dealing.. ?
This trade gives Chicago good strength down the middle and a good winger on each of their top 3 lines.
Even trade or is one team giving up too much?
Thinking the Jackets would maybe have to add a bit but I think this isn't too far off.
Note: I didn't do much with the lines and I know next season some of the Hawks prospects especially on D like Boquist will be pushing for jobs and might make the team and guys like Kunitz will be gone and UFA's will likely be signed I just didn't feel like diving deep into all that.

I don't think we give up a 2nd for Wennberg. Anisimov, Forsling or Perlini, and a 4th would probably do it.

Why do we need Wennberg at $5MM and give up 2nd pick. No way. If I'm swapping centers I'd want someone who will actually win some draws, he is at like 45%.
AA is pretty good and can play anywhere PK, PP, W, C etc, and we only have him for next 2 years, If we getting rid of Anisimov we want to get rid of his cap and we can put in his place some youngster, like Barrat, Kurashev etc...

Next season he is expected to slot into the 3rd or 4th line center spot. Depending if Anisimov is traded

How would you know if he's ready? We'll only find out at training camp, it's a much better idea to be prepared for Barratt to be a bust and get a valuable replacement just in case.

Not when it takes away from valuable cap space needed to sign key players for next year. And if you have been watching Penn state this season Barrett is more then ready to make the jump

Trading Anisimov for Wennberg is basically a net 0 on cap space, and they would still absolutely have enough to resign Cat/Strome after this. I have been watching Penn State, and Barratt has been playing well. But the NCAA is very different than the NHL. Do you know who else played very well in juniors? David Rundblad. That didn't turn out so well. You never know how players will turn out, no matter how well they play in juniors.

You just lost all your credibility because Rundblad wasn't drafted out of juniors nor did he play juniors. He was drafted out of SEL or now known the SHL which is a professional hockey league

The SHL is a professional league, but it's still a development league for young Swedish players. It also doesn't change my argument, dumbass. Rundblad still looked great before he got to the NHL, whether that's in juniors or in a lesser professional league, and was terrible after that. Barratt could do the exact same, I don't want it to happen, but I still think it's a good idea to prepare for that possibility.

Yeah there's too many people who seem to think guys are just gonna step in from junior/college/European pro league and contribute instantly but it doesn't work out that easily too often and especially a guy who was a 3rd round pick, he's probably gonna need some AHL seasoning before he's NHL ready. The worst thing they can do is rush a guy to the NHL, let them marinate in the AHL for awhile, both the player and team will be better off for it.
