I would still consider this a successful deadline. Lou has plenty of opportunities to improve the team and I think he gets the job done

Dal Colle is pretty much a bust at this point (especially considering he was a #5oa pick) and I would only consider him a throw in on a deal. So...Dal Colle and a 1st is the minimum I would consider for Staal.

He actually has looked decent as a checking forward this season. He is young ans cheap and fills a roster spot for Minni. I don't think I would trade a first for Staal though. I think there are too many names on the market for the Wild to get one either.

When all the other big name players are gone...come back to me about Staal.

Fenton is dead set on getting a first for Staal, I'd be surprised if he went for a 2nd. Only way I see that happening is if Fenton starts talking with our beat writer and our beat writer convinces him to go after a 2nd and a prospect.

He might get a 1st for him but there seems to be a ton of forwards available this season. They might just hold onto him if they can’t get the first.

Forwards =/= centers. Centers always get more in trades. Staal may not be a Duchene but he would provide an experienced vet to any team looking for one, he has already won a cup before so he knows what it takes. Clearly you like him if you made a thread about him. I think he'd be a great fit in NYI.

Yeah he would be an awesome fit for us. I just think if the team is willing to trade the first they will go after a more impactful player. But if they did give up a first for Staal I certainly wouldn’t be mad about it.
