Description

If Toronto needs to shed cap, Ottawa could turn the "no value" Zaitsev into a bunch assets.

Ottawa will have all the cap in the world if they sell off Duchene and Stone this year. Lets them turn Zaitsev and retention into a bunch of assets. Zaitsev on a 2.25M long term contract is actually good value and something teams looking for D depth would want.

Of course this requires their owner to pay some money, which makes it unlikely. However, this team will be a tire fire of tanking next season and might as well make the most of the wasted season.

Not good enough for OTT. Youre giving up long term dead weight in Zaitsev, and receiving one of their better prospects. OTT also wont retain on anybody unless its a great deal and that FLA trade sure isnt.
