Thats a really bad offer for Athanasiou.

I doubt that if TML cannot afford Kapanen, they can afford Byrons 3.45 million salary.

Montreal is going to reject both trades.

Lehkonen is Montreal's most versatile forward. He plays PP/PK.

McNiven is Laval's starting goalie when Lindgren is called up at the end of the year.

The only reason Athanasiou is doing so well is because Detroit is ****e. Like Hudon last year.

Kapanen isn't worth anything near a 1st + 2nd + Byron.

The Wings aren't trading AA and definitely not for that.

I'm not saying Lehkonen is a bad player. When you have Glendening, Ehn and De La Rose that fill that same role you have absolutely no use for him.

I'd pass on the Athanasiou trade if I were Detroit. Given minutes and a decent line he's a 25-30 goal scorer. Even if he's just a consistent 20 goal scorer in the future, that's more than Lehkonen will ever be. McNiven wouldn't stand out in Detroit's goalie system. Detroit needs talent at the top of their roster. Athanasiou could be that. They don't need PK versatility, they have that in spades.

If you have the cap space...there's a chance you can land Kapanen for less by getting him on an offer sheet after Matthews and marner sign.

5yrs and $5m likely doesn't get matched and costs a 1st and 3rd...not sure if you want to pay him that tho

Respectfully disagree with you. There's a reason why DLR was placed on waivers and Lehkonen wasn't. And if you're mentioning DLR, Glendening and Ehn under the same breath, then Lehkonen is better than all those guys. Not saying you need Lehkonen, just trying to match value. I'm not arguing with you for the sake of it, it's just that IMO your argument is flawed...IMO.

Like Hudon? Don't see the connection. But are you saying Gallagher put up good numbers last year cause everyone else was ****e?

Hudon put up 30 points last year on a ****ty habs team. This year he is a healthy scratch because he isn't good enough for the 3rd line. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling Athanasiou is in the same situation. Gallagher has put up atleast 45 points consistently so you can't compare him.

AA has 30 pts in 45 games. And he's on Pace of 50 + like Gallagher last year, he's also 3 yrs younger. Hudon had 30 in a full season. What are we talking about here?

I wasn't comparing them talent wise. I was comparing playing style and how they are utilized. Lehkonen is better than Ehn and DLR hands down no doubt!
When comparing him to Glendening by production wise using p/60 and esp/60 they are very similar. The difference is age Lehkonen is 6yrs younger.
