I know the players just fine thanks. He’s an average prospect that projects to be 4th, 5th, 6th type of defenseman in the NHL. Not going to move the needle on a trade, he’s a secondary piece.

Yandle contract is way too long. No team will give up top prospect or 1st rd pick for an old Yandle sign another 5 years.

Maybe, maybe not. But he also has an NMC, and will still be a high quality D man for another few years. They aren’t moving him for pile of average to below average.

But yes, the contract is not team friendly by any means.

Once again, This trade doesn't work for either team. Florida isn't going to trade to the same division, Montreal has no interest in trading away good future pieces. Florida doesn't get enough value back in the first place. Montreal has no interest in trading for an awful contract.

Yandle would surely help Mtl powerplay in the short run. Mtl has cap space and LD prospects won't be NHLready until 3 or 4 years.

Mtl has good prospects on RD (Jullssen and Brook) so they can trade one.

Reilly fills a hole left by the lost of Yandle.

Lingren has the potential to be an NHL goalie that coud replace Luongo when his contract will be traded to a team that is under the minimum cap.

The second pick will bring Florida a prospect and the the lost of Yandle could help them to compete in lotery which could improve their first pick.

They won't be in playoff run for a couple of years so trading in the same division doesn't mean much at the present time and Yandle is aging.

But maybe Florida could get more from another team I don't know.

I truly think this trade makes sense.

You bring some good points but, Brook is going to replace Petry when he is traded within the next couple of years.

Weber
Juulsen
Brook

Reilly is expandable so I have no problem with trading him.
We can't trade Lindgren because we need him in Laval to be our starting goalie (They need to make the playoffs to, afterall)
The 2nd round pick will bring us another good prospect which we desperately need.

We are trading to the same conference so all of those futures are going to affect us in the future, wheras Yandle isn't going to be the difference between us missing the playoffs and winning the cup. His contract lasts until he is 37, which we cannot afford to have another overpaid guy.

According to the Lingren situation, that is why I have included the signature of Connor Lacouvee a goalie that is doing a great job in Laval recently.

There are no perfect trades but what is messing all Marc Bergevin plan which I beleive in, and I can see you sticking to it in your posts, is that Montreal is in the payoff run and they seem serious about it. There are short term considerations to think about.

The Habs missed the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years which means they have been an INCONSISTENT team. Thus, it's not worth it to give up young assets (they don't have strong prospect minus the ones from 2017-18 draft) for a "quick fix" and "strong playoff performance".

I am just referring to everything Bergevin says. He doesn't want a rental, but if there is a pending UFA that he is interested in, he will trade for him. Only if he the players fits into the teams plan beyond this year. But he doesn't want to give up anything major to get them (IE Thomas Vanek trade)
