Seguin, Kucherov, Guentzal, and Ellis have all signed extensions for significantly more money starting this summer.
Also, the McDavid contract is the best contract for the Oilers. McDavid is a steal at $12.5mil AAV.
Staal is best in terms of AAV, which I assume is the point of this
87g/90a (and still counting) is a well spent $10.5m (total) over 3 years by any metric. Even if he was a 1 year deal for $3.5m a 30g/30a would still be the best contract on the team. Long term Dumba, at $6m/yr, is going to look really good.

Well I'm thinking current contract. Cause like presumably Pastrnak isn't on that list cause he's more value than Marchand at 6.125 or whatever, it's more that having him for that cap hit over 5 more years is valuable. That's why I'm a bit confused when contracts like Kucherov's, and now hypothetically Staal's are introduced. Like I'd rather have Ekholm for 4 years at 3.75 than Josi at 2 years for 4m if you get me

The Wild are pretty barren of good contracts. Dub is really just a fair deal for the player he is, it looks better as the cap goes up and others sign for bigger money, for sure. Term is nice, but for the guys pushing 35 short term is better than long, too much potential for things to got bad. There is just no downside to Staal's deal. If Dumba (missed 18 games and is still 2nd in goals and top-40 in points for d-men) hadn't gotten hurt he'd be 2nd to Staal.

Well Granlund and Zucker are IMO first line players making under 6m for some term, but yeah, they're not typically like other team. No exceptional talent there, and especially no exceptional talent signed for cheap
