Nice trade to clear cap space. Winnipeg is one of few teams that do have the cap space to sign Stamkos easily. Still I think Stamkos will be coming to Winnipeg just once a year when his Eastern Conference team (whoever it may be) play their only game of the year in Manitoba.

I think this is the first time I've seen a Winnipeg post involving Stamkos. Jets fans have managed to resist the temptation to do this. It does look fantastic but I agree with Palhal that Stammer is likely to stay in the east. Funny thing is that if he wants to play for a cup contender, this line-up doesn't look too far off. As the Pavelec, Stafford, Enstrom and Thorburn contracts come due, use the money to pay players coming off ELCs.

could a mid round pick send his rights to the peg? If you have ever watched him you would know hes regressed since his rookie year and is doubtful to become a top pair/elite dman now. Thats what I think from watching him every night. hes hesitant, making bad decisions, and lost some of his edge

He's also still young and learning, has played on some pretty bad teams in Winnipeg other than the one year they made the playoffs. I'm a Habs fan and i can tell you, before PK Subban's Norris year, he regressed as well. Defensemen usually take a while longer before really hitting their stride at the NHL level. By 25 they usually are at their best. He also plays against some the other teams best players already and eats a minmum of 22-23 mins a night. I think I can count on 2 hands the amount of d-men his age that do that in the NHL.
