I’d make the pick conditional on resigning bob.

I’d rather trade Kyrou than that pick. The 2020 draft is fantastic

I really don't like the idea of getting Bob. Only reason I say that is because if you get him, you pretty much need to retain him in the offseason to make it worthwhile. Even then, you're looking at a 8+ million goalie which seems illogical from a cap perspective. Think Gibson or Hellebuyck range is better especially for a team like the Blues.
While I'm not as high on the 2020 draft as STLBlues17, Blues can't run of risk of continuing to be mediocre while trading 1st round pick after 1st round pick.

I hear ya, it's much tougher (but better) to find a no.1 goalie before they prove it. And then you get their prime on a reasonable deal. Getting Bob would cost a lot and require a big expense in terms of trade and cap, but it seems plausible for a team that's owner is probably tired of having goalie problems and thinks the roster is good enough.

Pretty bold. I feel like even if you land a stud in 2020, he's 10 yrs younger than Tarasenko and the gang and he'll take a few years to hit the scene - not the most important thing but it should factor into the decision. I like where our key prospects are because they should bring in a new wave that can co-exist with the current core guys.

Shoot! The title made me think the Blues were going to sign Darth Vader to play goalie. Sighhhh, the disappointment.

Vader has a NTC. The emperor locked him up long-term after he saw potential in him tears of joy

Lord knows our defensemen never clear the crease, so I was looking forward to seeing Lord Vader hack some guys Hextall-style with his light saber!

I just really don’t like the idea of trading a pick a year in advance. There’s just so much risk involved and it’s burned us 2 years in a row. I’d definitely try to make a run in the offseason and give him a contract. Perhaps that could go high AAV for a short term.

That is an incredible overpay for Bob, IMO but I think you're on the right track. I don't think Columbus can get anywhere near that return since they will not be signing him, hes struggled this year, and hes not in good graces with the organization. IF there is an extension agreed upon as a condition of the trade then yes. If not, than that's a bad deal for the Blues. John Davidson has familiarity with Jake so I really think this has more of a chance than people think.

I like the idea of St. Louis trading for Goalie Bob (ok...as a leaf fan I hope they blow the whole thing to pieces with a few of them landing in Toronto)...but as a hockey fan I'd love it...getting an undisputed #1 goalie would be like buying information.

There isn't a single team holding a playoff spot right now that doesn't have a legit starter. Calgary is the best example...when they get good goaltending...they lead the Pacific...if the goaltending fails them...they are a lottery team.

I think St. Louis has all the pieces of a team that SHOULD be competing...except for goaltending. In Toronto, our team has looked like a shell of themselves when Andersen was out with injury.

If the Blues traded for Bob now, it would/should at least give you a sample size to see if the rest of your team deserves to stay. If Bob comes and there's no improvement...you blow it up, recover the assets you gave away and then some.....but if he comes and the team projects upwards...you might save yourself years of misery starting from scratch.

I only have a problem with it from a cap perspective. Blues do need a bona fide starter. No doubt about that, it's something they've constantly struggled with as a franchise, but why give up assets in a trade and sign him to an 8+ million contract after? When you look at guys like Anderson, Murray, and ones I named above, these are quality starters who come at a lower cap hit. So why should a team like the Blues, spend 8 million on a goaltender? Besides, I'd rather have xrap goaltending this season, be a bottom 10 team and get into the draft lottery then have limited success the rest od the year and get blown out in the playoffs.
