Out with the Thrashers...time to move up.

Description
Thorbs, Stu and Pavs have been key players both on and off the ice since the relocation but the progress of the prospects is getting choked out by their presence on the game sheets. Over $7M in salary that is replaced by less than $3M on a cash conscious team is significant.

Jets can afford to take on Datsyuk if they wanted. Doesn't cost anything and they could pick up another pick in the 2017 draft.

Exciting times in the Peg. Love to see them grab another defence prospect with their first rounder from Chicago or their 37th overall pick.

Thats not even that bad. All those players have expiring contracts soon and are all under 4M. Most teams have over 10M in players they want to rid themselves of. I'd say Winnipeg is looking pretty darn good for the future.

you couldnt give those players away if you tried, especially all to one team. On a good team those guy are scrap parts/garbage. you have to send more assets with them to counter the deficit of taking on all cap.

I like Sean Day in the second round. I rememeber a few years ago when there was so much hype around him and he was being projected as the #1 pick.

You are probably right. Be interesting to see if the jets sent Pavelec to the Moose if anyone would pick him up off waivers. Thorbs and Stuart I would think would have value to some teams but with the depth of the Jets prospect pool, there shouldn't be space for them in the lineup in Winnipeg. Management has been devoutly committed to these players getting regular shifts in spite of the results. Popular in the dressing room.

Sean Day is the Johnny Manziel of the draft. For Sean's sake, I wish him well but he has slid considerably in scouts eyes and rightfully so.

Those three "Thrashers" Most teams have players they don't want on their team. At least Winnipeg as cap space and can keep them till their contracts run out

Still a little value left in the players being dumped. Goaltending is likely going to struggle again beginning this year with again bringing in another 3 rookies into the lineup. Not an environment to build confidence in defence nor goaltending. Likely see the backend left out to hang again with odd man rushes till the new guys figure the nhl game is not all about push and offence. Expecting some road bumps is good to have some guys that have been through the horrors of the last game and can put it behind them. Young guys will eventually struggle sometime in the year always good to have support guys . By the time the contracts run out will be pretty close for the maturation. Thorbs, Stu and Peluso are fitness freaks and great in the public examples for the new guys on what it takes to either make it to the NHL or stick in the NHL. When they are done at the NHL level to the Moose.
