Not only is the Vancouver trade on-sided for the Habs, it doesn't make any sense. Vancouver is rebuilding and is hosting the draft. ça n'a aucun sens

The team is rebuilding so improving immediately doesn't help. Based on your line of thought, it would not be one sided for the Canucks to trade Edler, Tanev and Sutter for Kotkaniemi and Mete. Of course, that's not a trade the Canadiens would do.

So, the Canucks trade Drouin for that package and the Habs sign Elder for as UFA. Wouldn't the Canucks be 10 times better off, signing Elder themselves, and keeping Dahlen and their top two picks?
This trading of big money for picks and futures from non playoff teams just so free cap space doesn't happen.

Dude look closer...it's next year's picks. You get to keep your 2019 picks.

If they offer Edler a better deal he's more than welcome to accept. You make it sound like Drouin is 27 yrs old. With Quintin Hughes and Juolevi in the pipeline perhaps it wouldn't sting so bad to let Edler walk.

For the last decade CHI has been trading players that were due big raises to free cap space, to none playoff teams who ended up signing those players to "big money" themselves.

OK, you're not alone looking for Alexis Lafrenière.
Team don't made series don't trade you their first round pick for 2020.
Maybe next time you make sense.

À vouloir trop en faire, ça en devient absurde.
Aller, essaie encore.

What are the chances of any team landing the #1 pick? Slim. I'm not trading Lehkonen, it's Drouin. He's an actual NHL player, he's an actual pro player with high ceiling. Don't talk as if Dahlen is a sure superstar. If hypothetically VAN wins the draft lottery this year and pick Hughes, doesn't your instinct tell you that they have really good chances to make the playoffs in 2020? Which naturaly eliminate their chnaces if drafting Lafrenier. Also isn't it evident that building through the draft, it doesn't guarantee anything when you look at the Oilers.

Sprong was a PPG in the AHL and he couldn't get passed the 4th line with the Pens.

If every team never traded their picks and everyone just build through the draft then no team would ever have an edge on being better than anyone.

If a team was able to afford Duchene, Panarin, Stone, Skinner, Domi and Eberle as their top 6. Would automatically right now at this moment be the favorite to win the cup for the next 5 yrs.

Again...im offering VAN a young star player for a returning package that doesn't guarantee NHL success. So the only thing I'm winning from this trade right now is that I'm 5.5 mill richer. Dahlen and the picks doesn't guarantee nothing right now and perhaps never will.

I kinda understand your concern. But when I see trades like what VGK gave up for Tatar 27 yrs old. And MINNY for Hanzal 2 yrs ago. I cannot go as far as saying that my demands are exaggerated or unimaginable.

Well, why trade 3 of the 5 better player for the Habs this season for draft pick if is not a guarantee.
We don't want rebuilt every three years.
Just keep them. Add Mark Stone as well if you could, and find a first pair lefty defenseman.
After all, if Drouin, Gallager ant Tatar worth as a first pick for each,we could built around them.
The only other real problem for Montreal is the Alzner contract.

I think those other trades are for teams that were further along in their development. I’m not sure Vancouver is a good trading partner for Druin.

I understand your point re return for lesser players.

There's a big difference for a trading partner to give up a 2019 1st and a 2020 or 2021. If you look closely, since I'm giving NJ the older guys I'm not asking for immidiate top returns. McLeod is struggling mightily in the AHL, and is playing way bellow expectations. He's not labeled a bust yet, but he could be. He is a big questionmark so I need insurance, that's where the picks come in. I'm not gonna give up 2 guys that could bring at least an extra 40 goals for the next 2-3 yrs, to a team that was coming in the season with big expectations. NJ is supposed to be trending upwards, so it's very likely the 2021 1st is a mid-late pick, which means the success rate of being a full time NHLer diminishes. On top of that it will take 2-3 yrs for that player to show if he's a true pro or not, and even if he pans out as a pro, doesn't mean he's a top 6 forward or top 4 D. So since I have to wait 6 yrs to see if that 2021 1st rounder even pans out, then I want the 2020 2nd and 3rd rnd picks.

With all do respect to those players you named, they're not the type you build around, they're complimentary pieces. Drouin has alot of potential, but it's like saying to built around Nick Ehlers, you don't built around him, he just compliments Scheifle so well.

To VAN I'm giving the youngest in Drouin, cause they need someone near the same age as the young core. And he's got the longest term.

CAR is getting Gallagher cause they desperatly need an impact player on RW and that's not me making that up. He's cap friendly and that counts for something. Dunden has expressed that the 2019 1st is untouchable. That's fine, I can live with what I'm asking.
