overpaying for Theodore because Brooks the best RD we drafted since Subban but we need a LD today and moving Brook allows us to keep Petry longer

Brooks is the future of the habs d core. So trading him a 1st and 2nd is rediculous.

The only way will get a LD is by trading Jeff Petry for a LD. Brook Juulsen Fleury are the future at the right side. Romanov Top 4 Mete Top 5. Walford Top 6

I’d try and take advantage of some one with cap problems like Toronto. Work out some deal where you take Nathan Horton or marleaus contract and get sandin and a pick for a 1st

if i believe in Weber ,Petry and Juulsen for the next 3-5 years sure(which i happen to like)

but there is more upside in moving Petry but even with both Petry and Brook removed that just create's enough space for Fleury behind Juulsen and Weber .

Brook is Legit so if i could get a LD like Sanheim or Hayden Fleury then i probably dont bother as both those prospects could help us long enough to develop Mete , Romanov and Walford to play full time in years to come .

the issue is i'm not sure either team moves those players for Petry because of different organizational reasons as PHI a bottom feeder this year has no need in moving on Petry and i just dont see CAR who's trying to make room on D trading for Petry as i think thats the main reason a Hayden Fleury would be expendable .

VGK however is dead on their RD after Collin Miller and is exempt from next expansion draft with zero worry about protecting players allowing them to upgrade .

i think if you packaged Petry and a player like Hudon,Armia or Shaw who we wont protect in the expansion for Theodore and a conditional 3rd pick in 2019 that MTL would be better for it and VGK would to allowing VGK to gain pieces that allow them to make further moves in order to make their team better . i think Petry and Armia for Theodore and a 3rd is fair

Who he plays with won't make this difference

Last year he scored 4 or 5 i forget on a goalie
you can't argue the 14 goals he scored in 35

It isn't like domi is being carried here
Shaw is certainly not carring domi if anything domi and drouin are carrieing him
and domi and drouin are playing around equal
drouin isn't carrying domi is playing better

just look how much better he has been playing alone as a centre

There are many other statistics but for times sake i won't say plus you wouldn't listen

That is a pretty bad d core

Brook is fantasitic and overhyped he will not be top pair more like 2nd pair

juulsen is ok

so the right side is a bit underaverged

and the left side

walford is 7th d for depth
mete works as a 2nd pair
and romanov is more of a 5th d

He could easily play on the bottom pair and could do ok and the 2nd but 1st NOPE

A more successful left side would be

SOMEONE ELSE
mete
romonov

walford

Josh Brook is almost untouchable. Currently killing it in the WHL playing RHD but also looking very good at the WJC prem as a LHD.

Take a better look bud, he’s doing great as a center. I don’t understand why people comment or suggest trades if they don’t know the team lol such a joke

Domi should only move to wing if its to give Suzuki a Center Spot years down the road .

Drouin-Domi-Suzuki
Byron-Kotkanemi-Lehkonen
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Shaw-Poehling-Evans

this is what i expect to see by this time next year .

Poehlings NCAA which means he isnt conditioned for a full 82 game season and has never played anywhere close to that frequently nor traveled that much .

Suzuki on the other hand plays hockey 10-11 months a year and has been conditioned that was for a long time succeeding at each level he's been in thus far.

NCAA players in MTL always start out in the AHL for this reason but Poehlings 2 way ability as a center makes it easier to justify keeping him up as he can get 4th line minutes and center 2nd PK . Poehlings got a lot of Talent and is by far the better goal scorer and faceoff center of the two but Claude Julien has little patience for conditioning young players which is why he relied so heavily on his AHL system and eventual Successor Bruce Cassidy

Suzuki is the logical fit as he's a Glen Anderson , the Playmaker floating that opponents overlook allowing him to work his magic setting the play.Maybe that doesnt sound Glamorous but something to consider is in the end he retired with more cups then Wayne Gretzky because him and Messier replicated this in NYR Cup win .

moving Domi to wing is just Dumb at this point for MTL given he's succeeding in OZ faceoffs and NZ Faceoffs we just need to get a guy to fill DZ bulk faceoffs like Mitchell and Plekanec held down in recent years making all our Centers lives a hell of a lot easier(without them no chance Chucky stayed Center as long as he did here ) . Where they take draws matters and Domi when put in Offensive Positions has Succeeded but on nights teams grind down Danault who accounts for 50% of all MTL's faceoffs for top 10 in the NHL for total taken , total wins and total faceoffs per game then Domi cracks under the Pressure as does Kotkanemi .

moving Poehling to 4th line and Danault to third allows MTL the Luxury of Domi and Kotkanemi of learning to walk before they run while also giving Poehling a chance to get 13-14 minutes a night instead of 8-10 so Win Win .

Poehling is stud his going be able play 82 games his big strong and plays 200 foot like Kotkanemi i dont see no reason why he start season with them + he would have been there this year but wanted play year in st cloud.

Domi is not center vs Dallas he move to wing because of bad faceoffs

bad Faceoffs ?

you're joking right ?

there are like 20 centers in the entire NHL who can consistently win 50% + on Faceoffs no matter what Zone they are in .

the rest like Plekanec for Example who couldnt win an Offensive Zone Faceoff to save his life could however get 70-80 % win rates in the Neutral Zone and 60-70% in the Defensive Zone to offset the 10% they get in the Offensive Zone . Some teams have the Luxury of picking up Bulk Centers like PIT did acquiring Bonino and Cullen to help offset Malkins horrible faceoff numbers (because that guy cant win unless its OZ faceoffs anything else he's screwed). With Crosby and Cullen averaging over 3500/5000 total faceoffs for PIT it made Bonino's job essentially Defensive Zone Faceoffs which allowed Malkin to spend more time with the puck then chasing it after he lost a faceoff .

from a Coaching Point of View you have to 100% of the time look at Faceoffs as a whole not just a winning % which without Context means nothing .

Poehling is at best your future Tomas Plekanec but most likely will be at Lars Ellers level with the ability to be clutch in crucial games .

Kotkaenmi is the first and only #1 Center Prospect we've had since Koivu . Galchenyuk was Always a long shot at Center playing only 1 junior season at Center due to injury in his final two years leaving him in and out of the line up he only ever played wing unless he was on PP. Kotakanemi is the 2nd youngest Drafted player of all time for MTL to score a goal and i think you're clearly glossing over how far ahead he is from every other prospect in our system . Its like me saying Evans will be as good as Suzuki , its illogical .
