Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

Trade for Gudas at the 2018-2019 deadline. Trade Zaitsev and Brown to any team. Ennis isn't actually Ennis but next year's reclamation diamond in the rough. Re-sign Dermott and Gudas in 2020 with Marleau's money. Trade for a Dman at 2019-2020 deadline if needed. I think they're going to miss Gardiner, but this would be more balanced.

yeah at best youll get back a 7th round pick back for zaitsev if not give up more his contract is horrible.

Again we have this illusion that any RHD is better than the Leafs one. What makes the out of playoffs 3rd pairing RHD Gudas better than Zaitsev. Even if they equal, the 1.25m. cap difference isn't worth Brown, Bracco and the 20 spots downgrade in the draft.

I have to admit I think Toronto could really use a player like Gudas during the playoffs. When things get dirty they got Kadri and like no one else.

I think Gudas and Zaitsev are both very good defensive defensemen, with different strengths and weaknesses. I do think that if Toronto is picking their player in this deal, they add something, but I don't see the difference as quite so extreme.

The advantage is to have Gudas and Zaistev for the 2019 playoffs and then lose Zaitsev's term afterwards. The STL trades for Piet or Parayko all have to involve Zaitsev to balance the cap, which doesn't really help the right side enough this year.
