Mate, I think you're missing the point of a rebuild. You send your first and think a cap-strapped Leafs team will take on Kovalchuk and Phaneuf..? Trevor Lewis and some scraps for Jost? You send your first rounder next year to get Hagelin back to a team he was a poor fit in a couple of years ago, then you top it off by sending your last first rounder in the coming years to the Devils, effectively giving them more for Kinkaid than the Leafs got for Nylander.

Leafs also say no. Kovalchuk is not the type of player that we want and neither is Phaneuf. The only chatter I hear about LA in TOR is related to either Doughty (can't afford him) or Martinez.

If the Kings decide to rebuild, they're not going to trade Vilardi, Petersen, or any of their 1st round picks, certainly not their 2019 pick which could very well be 1st overall.
