I think CBJ should definitely do it. It's not like they're near the cap. Look no further than Michael Kempny last year. He was CRUTIAL in WAS cup run and was a healthy scratch with the Hawks. It really makes me wonder what the heck is Stan doing over in Chicago though.

Based off numbers looked like Rutta was decent in #4 role last year when CHI wasn't a dumpster fire, wouldn't be surprised if EDM tries to claim him as well then waives one of our 7-8 Dmen if they get him (unlikely since 20 other teams have priority)

Players perform differently in different atmospheres. Domi, D. Strome, W. Karlsson, and so on show this. Rutta and Kempny weren't clicking in Chicago anymore. But, Kempy is a player that could sneak into a top 4 slot where as Rutta is a 6D and no more. He's been outperformed in Chicago by Jokiharju, Gus, Dahlstrom, Forsling, etc., so no reason for us to keep trying with him when we can hope someone takes on his contract and we can potentially make some moves at the TDL if needs be.

I agree and disagree. I can't explain William Karlsson, but Domi and Strome are both explainable because it's AZ. They're bad at player development. You can also include Anthony Duclair in that mix too. Dahlstrom has only played in a handful (at most) of games. But overall I'd agree with the assessment. I just though bowman would be able to get a 3rd rounder for him. That was the going rate for bottom pair dmen last year. I'd take a 3rd round pick!
