Lol. One, their opinion is not entirely wrong. Two, one could say the same of you, not exactly changing your opinion either when presented a counter argument. Some of your arguments were valid some were way off. Three if you can’t handle a difference of opinion this is not the place for you to be.
Lastly there is another reason they are moving players that has nothing to do with rebuilding.....cap space. They had no significant contracts coming off the books next year and no room to sign Kempe, Iafallo, others. And I hate to break it to you but if Sweeney called and offered Donato and a 1st.....Toffoli would be gone. It’s full value and there is no guarantee they could move him for what they are looking for, according to what you think they are looking for anyway.
Guess you can put me on the list now too seeing how I didn’t agree with you..
It wasn't directed at you. It was directed at the people that attack my hockey knowledge without contributing anything to the argument. I'm happy to debate trade merits all day, but if someone just replies "you don't know what you're talking about lol" without something to add to the argument, then that person isn't worth my time.
If you reread my original reply, I said that the Kings wouldn't be interested unless the offer were upgraded with one of three things, one of which was a 1st round pick. So I would agree that Donato and a 1st would get it done. Donato would be the secondary piece in that trade.
I'm fully versed in the Kings cap situation. The imminent issue was Doughty's extension next season, and the Kings needed to clear approximately ~$2.5M from the team to fit Doughty's extension and Iafallo and Kempe's new contract. That issue was taken care of by moving Pearson. His $3.75M come off the books, and Hagelin won't be extended after this season. They'll be fine if they stick with their current roster, especially since players like Vilardi and Anderson-Dolan will be joining the roster next season taking the place of more expensive contracts.
I realize that the Kings are likely going to make a change, and that Toffoli, Martinez, and Muzzin are the most valuable trade pieces, but the Kings are not in a dire cap situation that requires them to dump salary like Chicago was in a few years ago, and they're not going to move Toffoli for pieces that don't fit just for the sake of clearing cap space. If a team offers a trade that makes sense they'll do it, otherwise they won't.
