Toronto adds a first and a good prospect and I think the value is there but the reality isn’t.

Haha, I started by trying to puzzle out what would be a reasonable, fair trade for Nylander, which teams have a top-4 D that could be available, then decided to just say ***k it, we'll propose this instead and see what happens

This trade will likely never happen, however if Edmonton wanted to trade him, Toronto is at present the only team that could offer anything close to a fair trade.

If you are trading a generational talent, you want one in return, or the package will be so massive it would be counter productive to the team getting McDavid or Edmonton flat out gets a terrible deal and loses big time. How many generational talents are there in the league under the age of 22 (McDavid's age), currently just 1 and that is Matthews. So logic dictates that Edmonton would look to TO for a trade and as for Matthews. So what would that trade look like? It certainly won't be a Marner and Matthews for McDavid. In fact I don't know if it would be much beyond a 1 for 1 at this point.
