I still think they need to put zaitsev with Reilly and dermott on the right with gardiner. Move hainsey to the left to split the season with Rosen playing alongside ozhiganov.

I think Hainsey will slide down if he doesn't somehow massively improve, but I don't think Dermott on his off hand is the answer, my guess is a deadline pickup.

Agreed. And Zaitsev should not be wasted with Gardiner, he is possibly after Rielly our second best two-way defender who is good in both ends of the ice. Should not play with Gardiner. Its wasteful.

I like the deal, but I would guess that Carolina would want someone other than Marincin, my guess is Rosen and 3rd for TVR. I would do the pairings this way tho..

Played there for the marlies and did very well. But I agree we may need to get someone at TDL... at least move hainsey down to the bottom pair for now.

He was paired with Liljegren on the Marlies last season, who is right handed and plays the right side. Plus he's deadly on the left side.

The season before, he really is good on that side and it would move him up for more ice time

Sure, I can get behind that. Honestly would not at all mind seeing Zaitsev (who was the best Leaf defender last night) with Rielly, Oz with Gardiner and then Holl and Dermott. Hainsey should only play when the Leafs take on a really slow team like LA.

If TVR is a competent NHL Dman, the Leafs are going have to give up a lot more than Marincin. (and the pick nothing). Isn't TVR the 4th RHD with Carolina? Is he any better than the Ozzie or Holl?

Folks keep on talk about "top pairing" if It has any meaning? Even your worse dmen play about 14/16 minutes a game. They better be NHL good. Hainsey doesn't play the PP but he sure is needed on the PK, and he will get even strength minutes. Call it would you want, but Haisney is needed play significant minutes on the right side this year.
