Love the edler trade but definitely wouldn't get howard and maybe not Duchene either because he costs too much and we might not need him.

As an outsider, I too like the Edler trade, but why to you think you need Howard? Brossoit and Comrie seem like adequate backups and if not, we've got a few (McElhinney, Pickard and Sparks), one of which we might be able to spare. That seems to me like you're giving up three good young players for a guy who may be out of the league in 2020.

I'm a Jets outsider as well, but the way I looked at it with Howard was that Brossoit is a fringe NHL backup. He hasn't posted great numbers in edmonton and if i remember correctly was not qualified as an RFA which is how he ended up in Winnipeg. For a team that's a legit contender, having Brossoit as the backup isn't ideal. Comrie is a good young goalie, but it seems like constant playing time at the AHL level would benefit his development more than serving as Hellebuycks backup. In hindsight it's an overpay on Howard. Duchene would create probably the most terrifying top 6 in the NHL. The speed of Ehlers and Duchene together on the second line combined with Laine's sniping would be a nightmare for opposition. It also slots Little into more sheltered minutes, which would benefit him greatly. Statistically it seems like Little was holding Ehlers and Laine back (as evidenced by their production when with Little vs after the TDL with Stastny) and Duchene would certainly help make the combo even more dangerous.

Howard is not needed. The jets could take a cheaper option instead. there are the leafs goalies as well as niemi in MTL.
Duchene would be great but the jets prospect pool is not so great right now and though Duchene is good, giving up that much for a rental is not needed. Little and ehlers could always join scheifele on the top line and have a 2nd line of Perreault/connor, Little, Wheeler.

The lineup would then look like:

Ehlers - Scheif - Laine
Perreault - Little - Wheeler
Connor - Roslo - Vesa
Copp - Lowry - Dano/Tanev (I think dano wins it by playoffs)
Lemieux

JoMo - Trouba
Niku - Buff
Edler - Myers
Morrow
