I'll reword it for you: Stone was a PPG player last season, is the NHL leader n takeaways over the last 3 seasons,.and he's only 26.
As for Karlsson, we'll have to agree to disagree, but I firmly believe, after Bobby Orr, almost every GM would have Karlsson in their top 3 if they were building a fantasy team.
Either way, my point remains, this is a horrible return for Stone and Karlsson if they're both signing extensions.
Wasnt never trying to justify that it was great trade for the Sens. Just your comments are over inflating the Sens players in an effort to try to make the trade look even worse. Both are fantastic players and will get a nice haul if they are moved. Karlsson is a special player but to say he is better of one of Bourque, Niedermayer, and Lindstrom you know you will get some backlash on that claim
But the Sens are in a really bad spot with all their pending UFAs. Bc of all the uncertainty around everything (owner, payroll rumours, Karlsson rift, coaching, etc) there is a lot of pressure for the team to be half ass competitive out of the gate bc if the wheels come off early, they could be in a world of hurt when it comes to selling guys off.
I still do not know why they kept onto the 4th overall, they have this dark media cloud of "Jack Hughes lottery pick" hanging over them all season long. Why would they add another factor in an already distraction filled season
