I don’t see any reason to. Goals against: 2nd in our division 3rd in our conference and 11th overall. And with the moves we made it will be even stronger this year. People always want to hate on the leafs.

No we leave him as our shutdown centre, you do understand a centremen’s role in the defensive zone right?

Leafs or no team would trade a Nylander with five years of control for two year of Trouba.

How much of that was due to Anderson and the way he stood on his head? I also agree that I wouldn't do this deal but I'm not as optimistic that Toronto can compete with Tampa this year without an upgrade at D. I think the only d-man I would trade Nylander straight up for is Colton Parayko. He is on a very good contact for 4 more years and is an elite defender. This would also help with the cap crunch for 19/20 because unless Nylander took a bridge deal for 2 years (which I hope he does) his contract will be over $5.5 mil. That being said I'd rather be the 80's Oilers and win every game 8-5.

We had fewer goals against than Tampa last year so I do not see the issue. Leafs didn’t come out to play and dug themselves a hole, one they nearly crawled out of.

Yes we are going to need our goalie to be great and our defence and our offence. That’s what it takes to win. Our offence and goaltending should be great if our defence can be good I think that’s all we need. I don’t see any reason why we are not in the top 10 for goals against this year.

Lmao at the 80’s oilers .... why not lol.

So Andersen stood on his head? Fact is in Mcillerny has much better GAA, and Save % than Andersen. So the Leafs had 82 games of goalies standing on their head? Just maybe the Leafs aren't as bad on defence as so many believe.
Yes Tampa is good and has this reputation as a great franchise. In the past 7 years, they have missed the playoffs three times and won the five playoff rounds, all.with Hedman, Stamkos and Yzerman. If the Leafs have the same record in next five years, lots of executives are going to be fired. But I do agree with you, Tampa might be team to beat in the Atlantic.

Leafs give up a lot of perimeter shots by playing with the lead so much. A large portion of those shots are desperation and outside the home plate area.

Tampa Boston and Toronto are going to be battling all year. It is going to be an insane division maybe more so than last year.

Seems like a lot of non Leafs fans, think shots on goals is the criteria for a good defence as opposed to the number of goals allowed, goal differential, wins, points.

Admitting the Leafs need better play from their dmen, but don't most or even all teams from their bottom pairing?
